The table is for single journeys within the Greater London boundary.
Which begs the question, what is the Uber surge price on a tube/rail strike day?
HEX 1st class single would be £32

...shouldn't there be a £0.00, for journeys which would go over the Oyster/contactless cap?

dg writes: That answers the question "What's the least you could pay?", not "What's the most...?"
The rail fares you quote are only if you stay on National Rail services. If you have to use the Tube to complete your journey, or to cross London, the cash fare is £9.80, Oyster fares are £7.80 (peak), £5.40 (off peak).

Why should it cost nearly twice as much for a South Londoner to travel to central London than it does for a north Londoner? (Most National Rail services north of the river now charge TfL rates)
Advance notice - From 23 October 2017, cars, vans, minibuses, buses, coaches and HGVs in central London will need to meet minimum exhaust emission standards, or pay a daily £10 Emissions Surcharge (also known as the Toxicity Charge, or T-Charge). This will be in addition to the Congestion Charge. So it will cost £21.50 to drive my car into the congestion charge area in a month's time.

There is also the Low Emission Charge covering effectively the whole of Greater London the daily charge is £100 for larger vans, minibuses and other specialist vehicles, and £200 for lorries, buses, coaches and other specialist heavy vehicles
Maximum fare for walking is £nil.

dg writes: Ditto cycling.
National Express coaches? E.g. quick search shows Eltham-Heathrow (via Victoria) at £15.90, but someone must be able to find a higher fare within London than that...
Woolwich Ferry is free!

dg writes: I'm not including free journeys
Gospel Oak to Barking rail replacement buses, which are running all day, every day for several weeks don't accept any payments.

The extensive University Bus network in Kingston is free for everyone (and is timetabled on tfl bus stops).
Rail journeys to/from Stratford International? E.g. standard single Surbiton-Stratford Intl is £10.65.
Apparently a peak single from Enfield Lock to Stratford International is £17.50! (and that's not even using the High Speed connection).

I'm minded not to include complex hybrid journeys in the table. But, ouch.
For the max £50 Santander cycle charge, does the £2 daily access fee get added onto that as well?
Go Ahead X90 coach and Stagecoach Oxford Tube from Hillingdon to Victoria, which both accepts contactless now.

both £4

dg writes: This isn't the maximum coach fare within the Greater London boundary. Sounds like a bargain, though (although the off-peak tube fare is cheaper).
You can pay £4 single on the Oxford Tube or the X90 (Oxford Bus Co) from Hillingdon to Victoria (Z1-6).

Both services run frequently and "The Tube" is 24 hours a day.
How much is it for a Rickshaw ride?
I've just been told (regarding HEX) that the on-board peak fare for a one-way ticket is £30.

Apparently.
What about (say) a taxi journey from Heathrow taxi rank (£2.80 extra), not to central London, but to Upminster or Chingford or some other place on the eastern edges of London? Wouldn't that be more than the max £90 for a Heathrow to Central London journey?

dg writes: Because taxi fares vary according to delay as well as distance, I've restricted myself to showing the four maximum fares given on TfL's Taxi Fares page.
Edit: Upminster to Heathrow is 58 miles, which at £3.70 per mile (tariff for journeys over 6 miles, acc. to TfL website) works out to £214.60

dg writes: That'll be via the M25 - the direct distance is more like 32 miles. I'd expect any taxi company travelling that far to have a set Heathrow tariff.
Cockfosters is in zone 5.
So is Cheam.

dg writes: updated, thanks.
Surely no-one would buy a first class ticket to or from Slade Green, as there is no first class on that line?

Other than the London termini, The only stations in Greater London on South Eastern to have First class services are Orpington, St Mary Cray and Bromley South - the first two of which are in Zone 6.

Taxi fares as shown are unrepresentative as it is mandatory to add a tip to avoid wrath/sarcasm from taxi driver. Sometime DG it would be useful if you could do a piece on what level of tip "tariff" is acceptable to drivers. Most visitors from provinces greatly overpay on taxis to avoid unpleasantness.

dg writes: I'm not the person to ask, I never use taxis.
@prptram, on the rare occasions I take taxis, I usually pay by card so no tip, and when I have paid by cash, I take back all the pound coins and leave the rest - unless particularly good service was provided. Not sure what sort of unplesantness/wrath/sarcasm there could be - just pay what you want and leave.
I hardly ever use taxis, anywhere.

But when I do, I give a tip of 5 to 10%. Not because of fear of sarcasm, but simply because I can afford it, and it seems the expected, and decent thing to do.

I would have no hesitation at all in withholding the tip if I could not afford it (though why would I use a taxi if short of money?) or if the service had been bad in any way.

But I would stand up for anyone's right to withhold the tip for any (or no) reason.
@Malcolm

"why would I use a taxi if short of money"

Sometimes, even in London, it's the only practical option. But I don't think I've used more than two in the past ten years - both were 1km journeys which would have involved two buses (pre-Hopper), it was pouring with rain, and I was travelling with someone on crutches.

(Actually, for short journeys with two or three people, a taxi can be cheaper than the bus)
The table seems to be missing air options (other than the cable car).

How much from Battersea to Canary Wharf or further, say Woolwich.

Or Northolt to London City Airport.

Helicopter or air-taxi
Mike D
I've just done a quick search on Expedia, and it seems that you can fly from Heathrow to London City Airport for £111
You do have to fly via Amsterdam and the two hour wait for your second flight makes the journey nearly five hours.

I would have looked for a more expensive flight (Assuming London -> X, then X-> London, and needing to complete the journey in one day) but I think this discussion is already dangerously near the "peculiarities, quirks or unusualnesses" threshold
Thanks, I hadn't thought of that 'route' and all the air-taxis seemed to be "ring for quotation".
