I still prefer to use the High Frequency Services map, (London Connections) as it shows the tube and National rail suburban services.
So often I have seen visitors to London holding a tube map and trying to find out how to get to a destination in South London. Show them the "connections" map and there are on there way.


I don't think you unravel a map. don't you unfurl? much underused word

It all depends on whether the map was originally ravelled or furled.

How do you ravel a map? Can you draw me a diagram?

At school I was puzzled by the line in Shakespeare's Macbeth, "Sleep that knits up the ravell'd sleave of care", my reasoning being that a ravelled sleeve must be the opposite of unravelled and therefore already knitted up.
Further thought: a knitted Tube map would be a sight to behold.
