When Gardeners' World mentioned this last Friday, I said to Mr BW, "Well, that's one report we won't be getting from DG!" I'm happily proved wrong.

""Fennel, petunia, and I think that's a skinnia."

Skimmia I think.
But you're getting better. Perhaps your gardening gene is going to manifest after all? ;)
>>"...and you've just missed it."

You obviously didn't. Why assume we did?
Did you go to the garden featured in the film Notting Hill?

dg writes: Rosmead Garden? No, I missed that one, because it was surrounded by a cluster of other gardens that didn't bother opening until 2pm.
Great post DG. Thanks to IanVisits for pointing me in the direction of the Open Gardens ballot a few months back I was one of the lucky 40 (out of the 40,000 who applied) to get into No 10's garden on Saturday. Boy was it special, not only did they allow us free access to the garden they also gave us a tour of inside No 10, including the cabinet office, state rooms, former PMs' offices etc :)
@ BW - yes I agree it should be "skimmia" and not skinnia.
Congratulations Chris! I was one of 39,960. I'd recommend the delighful Fann Street Wildlife Garden (Barbican) and Park Square/ Park Crescent joined by the Nursemaids' Tunnel. I see from DG's exploits there maybe more to add to my next year's list.
