Thanks for the tip of using Daytum can't wait to mentioned it to my Data Science colleagues in the office tomorrow.
Not recording walking up escalators any more.

dg writes: I stopped reporting on that last year.
Count 11: Number of times I mention Bow Bus Stops (up 1,000%)

dg writes: It's worse than that, the increase is infinite.
Poor old February 29th. Was it statistically shunned in 2004, 2008 and 2012 too?

dg writes: February 29th is always shunned. This ensures that the survey period consists of precisely four weeks.
When will we find out what the mystery count is? I really want to know!
Wow! I thought I could sleep but 163 hours a day? (count 4). Well done Rip Van Geezer! 😉
Well spotted, Jo W!
DG has never, as far as I know, given us the slightest hint as to what the Mystery Count is. But my guess is that if somebody stumbles on it, and puts the accurate answer in a comment here, DG will acknowledge it. If they never do in the lifetime of this blog, then we may never know.

And regular readers will already know that it's not any of the obvious things proposed or hinted at already!
Oh I don't know Malcolm. I think DG enjoys keeping us in suspense and won't tell us now until it changes - despite any correct guesses in the meantime!
What Jo said. Perhaps Count 4 would be better labelled as "Number of hours I sleep (incremenented daily, rather than hourly through the night)". Though to be really technical, it might have to be "Number of hours I sleep since bedtime on 31st Jan", unless DG organises a special midnight bedtime each 31/1.
I would hope that the illustration showing February drinks is historic data, as two Becks before 10am on the first day of the month would be going some! (or perhaps it was a party last night that ran on after midnight?)
The important word is "count". He is *counting* the number of hours he sleeps *on each day* during the relevant period, not calculating an average.

Last year's comments were assisted by 80 or so on the thread discussing what to do for DG's Big Birthday (with significant support for a helicopter ride over London). No doubt DG will be adding some comment-bait in the next four weeks; perhaps the off-topic klaxon can be given a rest?
@ Malcolm

The "Mystery Count". There have been clues in years past to make it quite certain of what "it" is. Here is another clue...it been zero for me again this year too.
My guess is that if the Mystery Count counter had been armed last year in January, we would have seen it increment due to a bus-related incident, or almost at least.
I'd say believing the Mystery Count as little more than a plot device would spare myself some unnecessary spending of brain power :P
Well, as usual, there are only so many of the counts that interest me. Go ahead, count. I'm half looking.
@Grumpy Anon How do you know yours is 0 if we don't know what it is???
Grumpy Anon believes that Grumpy Anon's Mystery Count is zero because Grumpy Anon believes that Grumpy Anon knows what the Mystery Count is. (Oh where is that gender-neutral pronoun when you need it?).

Obviously if Grumpy Anon has guessed wrong, then Grumpy Anon's Mystery Count may in fact be non-zero.
What it is, is overrated...enough said
What, consumption of Jaffa cakes?
Don't forget that in 2006, the mystery count was tallied at 0.3 before being rounded down to zero.
@Malcom True...
@ "Anon" 12:27am

Exactly...that is a massive clue in itself
@Malcolm "(Oh where is that gender-neutral pronoun when you need it?)".

"They"?
@ Adrian

"They" is not singular though
