Oh, this might seem sad, but I miss Closedown. The National Anthem or the BBC2 clock fading out, then white noise!

And that was only episode six of Neighbours, as it started the previous Monday.

Masterteam's days were probably already numbered. Lots of kids going back to school on 3 November 1986 appalled they couldn't continue to watch Neighbours anymore. The clamour starts for it to be shown in peak hours.

I keep old copies of newspapers from the day/day after huge news stories. e.g. 9/11, Diana Death, that sort of thing. Always fascinating to go back and look and see what the coverage was like.

Sadly, all you have done this morning is remind me of a time when there was no morning/breakfast TV, and how as a teenager i was 'banned' from watching TV before school when it came on.

Pages From Ceefax.

I never missed an episode.

Michael - you should go to bed more.....! Though given the time of your message (1:06 a.m.), you probably go to bed at a different time to the rest of us !

From the 1986 running order, its interesting to see how many of the lsited personnel are still around and broadcasting, 25 years on - Lumley, Holmes, Schofield, Witchell, Humphrys, Craven, Wogan, and of course Attenborough D - to name but a few.

Laundry as a "women's interest" ugh. We've come very far since 1936 in some ways.

I used to like Brush Strokes. Well it beats Wireless Transmitter Valves and Laundry tips!

Not the "3rd November" post I was expecting either!

Lots of commemorative repeats on BBC2 in 1986 - but they were mostly programmes worth repeating, weren't they?
Today's schedule doesn't look as interesting; not that I watched any of it - was glued to a PC instead :-)

Look North with Harry Gration? Surely you mean Midlands Today with Kay Alexander and Alan Towers.....

(Yes, I know not everyone is in the Midlands.)
