I knew you'd be posting about this. I think I'll wait for the Bank holiday to be over before I venture to see this.

when does school half term finish?

Half term is just starting so should be all next week. And remember, if you go early in the morning here to beat the crowds, it will be about 3 am in New York ...

Only on one news broadcast have I heard/seen that this is actually a broadband link (provided by Tiscali) and some cameras and projectors.

I mean, it's pretty obvious that it is, but I expect the news to tell me the actual truth rather than made up nonsense. Otherwise, maybe we can expect the news to start reporting on what Mickey Mouse is up to as "news" in the future?

I found out about this after reading about it in the Daily Mail , and it certainly sounds like an interesting contraption. I may have to go and see this myself.

Typical though that they want to charge us a quid to see it, when the New Yorkers get it for free.

Where does the 135 bus run in New York?

Amazing invention! Jules Verne is just what this world needs. Of course it's all done with a widescreen TV and mirrors I'd imagine.

But in fact, the Russians proposed a similar sort of tunnel in the 1800's to dig a railroad from one continent to another. The theory was that gravity would pull the train downhill for the first half of the trip... and the momentum would keep it going almost all the way back up to the top.

But they overlooked a few things like the molten magma at the core of the planet.

Great post!

Kirk:-The news does tell us what Mickey Mouse is up to....there are just a few Mickeys to choose from.

I for one choose to believe the Telectroscope isn't via broadband/satellite.

I just went along to see this tonight, thanks DG for letting me know about it as I would never have discovered it otherwise. The things the Americans were writing seemed suspiciously English - Want a shag and There's a dalek behind you were two of the things they wrote. But yes, a nice bit of fun and a pound well spent. I even managed to park the car for free within a hundred yards of it.

The coolest thing I've ever seen.

I saw the Sultan's Elephant a couple of years ago and thought it was one of the best things I'd ever seen - really keen to go and see the Telectroscope - wonder what they will do next!?

I am a Londoner living in New York and this was amazing...my partner and I got to 'see' about 20 of our close friends one rainy (London) Friday evening in London and a blazing hot sunny day in Brooklyn. They got rid of the white boards though, so we were reducing to shouting (?!) and gestures...great fun. Hey DG, where can I find your equivalent blogger in NYC? Any ideas? Look, I've been here four months and still reading your page instead!
