Plus any I've missed.
(minus any I've got wrong)
what about Embankment/Charing Cross? very complicated series of changes, but it has now been Embankment since 1976 when it was changed from Charing Cross Embankment
Rather than the ones you have missed (surely not, Ed), I'd be interested in the ones you'd recommend be changed.
Eltham was a 'new' station built not only to replace Eltham Well Hall (which was the nearest to the current location) but also Eltham Park
http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/e/eltham_park/
I would argue that
Eltham (Well Hall) → (1985)
does not qualify.

There were two stations Eltham (Well Hall) and Eltham Park. Due to the rebuilding and realignment of the A2 a completely new station on a different site was built and call Eltham.

It was very close to the former Eltham (Well Hall) but sufficiently closer to Eltham Park to justify the latter's closure.
OK, Eltham's gone, thanks.
And Embankment/Charing Cross are already in.
Harringay East was only called that for about a year (1990/91), not any earlier, as you suggest.

Also, "Stepney East" was like so, without brackets, at least in its later years under that name

Arguably Blackhorse Road main line (now Overground) station is an entirely different station from the Black Horse Road it replaced - it was on the opposite side of the road, without a direct connection to the tube station.

My recollection is also that the BR station now called Alexandra Palace was previously just called Wood Green.

Also, West Hampstead Thameslink was formerly West Hampstead Midland (in 1968? Not sure), and Edmonton Green was Lower Edmonton

Shame about Squirrels Heath. We should campaign to get that changed back.

Then we could have an argument about whether or not it should have an apostrophe!
St Paul's Thameslink became City Thameslink in about 1991 or so.

Crossharbour on the DLR's gained and lost "for London Arena".

Are you doing shut ones? King's Cross Thameslink used to be called King's Cross Midland City until the late 80s, and I think was just King's Cross until the 70s. (Obviously it's now shut...)

Another shut one - Silvertown became "Silvertown & London City Airport" in the 80s.
Stretching a point, but parts of Holborn Viaduct, notably the entrance from the street, have been incorporated into City Thameslink
On the tram, Ampere Way was IKEA Ampere Way for a bit ;)
On ones that should be changed, Trafalgar Square should get its identity back, but still with the interchange connector on the map with Charing Cross NL and mainline. This would more accurately reflect the closure of the Jubilee concourse leaving just that cramped long passageway.
Heathrow Central tube station opened in 1977 and became Heathrow Terminals 1,2,3 when Terminal 4 opened in 1986.
@Joachim: (from Wikipedia) Heathrow Central was renamed Heathrow Central Terminals 1,2,3 on 3 September 1983, then Heathrow Terminals 1,2,3 in 1986
I would argue that St Pancras International should not count, as no-one apart from automated train announcements actually calls it that!
What about Tottenham -> Tottenham Hale (1968)? (courtesy Wikipedia)

Surrey Docks changing to Surrey Quays is the saddest one for me.
DG Your usually excellent summaries have been ripped apart. My least favourite renaming was Stepney East to Limehouse. It is not Limehouse. Limehouse is Burdett Road/East India Dock Rd area, the original China Town, Limehouse/Lipsticks/Burdett Rd/Londoner as all those old girls called it when I was a Conductor on no 15 bus in 1980s.

The most shameful station new name is "Stratford High Street" on DLR, and I badgered DLR staff to review it before it opened. There is no such place....... it is High Street and a suffix could be "Stratford", or elsewhere Plaistow, Leyton, Leytonstone & etc.
At least DLR have a sense of humour with "Abbey Road" which caused a lot of anguish in naming, and has a lovely official poster incorporating some Beatles song names. You would not believe the number of people coming to Stratford bus station looking for Shakespeare. 200 pages out on the A-Z!!
Can't agree with you, scrumpy. Put the location name first, that's the important bit. On my first visit to London I spent ages on those old ticket machines that had every station listed looking for Kensington High Street, not realising that it was listed as High Street Kensington. The 'High Street' is a refinement of the location - e.g.Dalston Kingsland, Walthamston Queens Road. If you want to be pedantic you could put a comma after Stratford.
What about the two London Road stations? One in Brighton, one in Guildford?
What's now Waterloo East was just plain Waterloo when I came to London in 1973. Then it became Waterloo (East) and then it dropped the brackets.

More station name pendantry: Regent’s Park should be named after the nearby park, which is called ‘The Regent’s Park’ - don’t forget the the.
Bushey & Oxhey is now just Bushey.

dg writes: Indeed, the name changed in 1974, but it's not in London.
