Detailed examinations of maps have convinced me that the Capital Ring is mostly like you describe. Stay in the centre of London or get out further is my recommendation. An exception is the part of the Capital Ring from Wimbledon Common Windmill to Richmond Bridge via Richmond Park. It is a truly magnificent walk and I don't think it can be beaten for for scenery, variety or a feeling of grand opening spaces within a metropolis.

Keep going Diamond- you get a certificate from TfL if you finish the ring (and any other strategic walk)

Am really enjoying this DG, I don't think I'll follow your footsteps on this part of the walk though!

I didn't get a certificate when I finished the Capital Ring, and I emailed TfL to tell them as well...!

Surely if you want to avoid the urban nightmare experience, then passing "very close to Brent Cross shopping centre, without ever noticing it was there" is something to be celebrated?!

Impressive themed week, thanks. Nice to know you're keeping fit.

Richard, thanks for the heads-up about the TfL certificates. I've walked all six of their strategic routes - I might need a bigger flat to house all those certificates once I apply for them, although if Dionne's experiences are anything to go by, I won't need to buy a new house as a matter of urgency...

One word of advice DG - if you walk the London Loop from Moor Park round to Elstree then beware the cottagers who congregate in Scratch Wood just off the A1. I certainly didn't hang around...

Hello

I have just come across your blogs regarding the Capital Ring. If anyone has completed the Capital Ring please let me know and I will send you your certificate. Just advise me when you started and when you completed it and I will arrange everything

Off-topic: Did anybody else hear that explosion at about 1.30pm?

Keep going DG. This is fine stuff. I wish I'd got going on these walks before I had to push a pram along them too.

This series has been a real treat. I feel nice and fit after all that virtual walking.

Excellent. I learned some new stuff in there too!
