Ooh, they kept that one quiet, didn't they? I think I'll have to pop down after work. It is only next door after all.
Was at the Anniversary Games on Friday night, and we were sent up towards the Copper Box on exiting the stadium. I did many double-takes at things that were half-familiar and yet different; the main one indeed being the broad walking boulevards that had now become roads. Fascinating!
Greenwich Leisure Limited have their origins in the leisure department of Greenwich council, but have spread out all over London and outside, they do a very good job running Council sports facilities, so are excellent custodians of such a facility as the Copper Box.
So it turns out two entrances were open today - one by the RUN artwork, and one on the lower level by the bike racks. Upstairs they were doing more general building tours, and downstairs it was enthusiastic fitness coaches showing off the gym and trying to get people to join.
I picked the wrong one. Hopefully I didn't feign too much interest on the way round that the guy was disappointed that I didn't sign up on the spot...
Oh, I suspect it may be tomorrow's blog post, but the gate at White Post Lane was open to the public today - and the security guy I spoke to said that it would be 24 hours from tomorrow. That'll be the first time in over 6 years that pedestrians have been able to just wander through. (The vehicle gates will remain for now though.)
