Bring on those urban dance collectives!
Prepare ye the way of HS2012!
Blessed be Boris!
Am I sounding excited enough yet?

"Ping pong is coming home" - classic.

I wonder what the rest of the world thought of the Mayor of London - our ambassador at this event...

Leaving Boris out of the equation momentarily, it was a damned good party!

Courtesy of my 5 year old son we managed to blag a place on the Victoria monument and got a great view.

It's all exciting stuff, shame the Walthamstow event got cancelled due to the latest tragic murder.

CF

Did anyone else notice that the flag Boris was presented with in the stadium was not the same one he flourished later whilst on stage with Gordon Brown, Becks, etc, for a press call. And they said the Chinese were faking things!

I thought Boris was truly embarrassing!

I thought Boris talked a lot of Whiff Whaff.

Sort of sounds like a fart doesn't it?

Very apt.

CF

Yes, the flag he waved at the ceremony is the really important expensive one that's been around since 1984. The one he had at the press call was, understandably, one of the copies.

Oh, and don't forget, there will be the 2010 Winter Olympics in Whistler, B.C. Yes, the same sort of megalopolis of new development is already underway, with gigantic new blocks of housing and development.

We'll be hoping someone there is paying attention to make sure the countdown clock for those games is set correctly!

Err, a few people here in Oz thought Boris was an animated unmade bed (new "Doctor Who" monster, maybe?).

Did comrade Ken make an appearance anywhere, or was he at home sulking about the fruits of his labour being enjoyed by a toff?

PS: At least your display wasn't as cringe-worthy as our "cycling kangaroos" at the 1996 closing ceremony (in Atlanta) for the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

I rather liked the cycling kangaroos Walker. It was the Bananas in Pyjamas at the Sydney closing ceremony that did it for me.
