Talking of how things have changed have you seen Fin Fahey's picture of Carpenters Road? http://www.flickr.com/photos/albedo/1264717322/
Incidently, has anybody any news of Fin he does not appear to have been posting pictures recently?

"The most pleasant section of the Pudding Mill River used to be at its northern end. A meandering stretch of green-topped water, with banks lined by bushes and less intrusive litter, leading up to an arched footbridge alongside the Old River Lea."

Agree with the rest but "meandering' is waxing rather poetic. It was dead straight!

The more things change, the more they stay the same. And that stretch there in the photo with the tires could have been cleaned up and native species replanted along the banks. It could have been lovely.

I can't believe someone has got away with dumping all those tyres

One of my former favourite places.
