I guess someone needs to make another FOI request for the new working timetable.
You can't help but wonder that they didn't know what the improvements were either.

Interesting that a train every 5 minutes is now regarded as a turn up and go service, how long will it be before you are timing your departure from home to avoid the 4 minute wait at Bow Church?
That's a great shame as I time my journeys from Stratford International to coincide with the West Ham service to Becton. It works very well and will be sorely missed.
Curses on you! I have spent ages working out what is going on and writing up a draft.

One really good thing about the DLR is that there is an excellent page on the TfL website where you can find the timetable from one station to another at any time of day or day of the week without having to use journey planner which is a pain to use for this purpose.

Just go to https://tfl.gov.uk/dlr/timetable/dlr

The only real downside is that it only gives the current timetable and not the future one.

There are similar pages for each individual line on the Underground and, I think, for trams but they are much harder to find.
If interested the links for underground lines is somewhat illogically obtained by going to live arrivals and selecting a station on the line. It will be in the form:

https://tfl.gov.uk/tube/timetable/northern

with the appropriate suffix. Most are obvious but for Hammersmith & City and Waterloo & City use hammersmith-cty or waterloo-city as appropriate.

For trams select the appropriate line but they are in the form:

https://tfl.gov.uk/tram/timetable/tram-1
Sorry PoP, but I'm sure you'll be able to explain the new arrangements better than I have, especially the West Ham situation!

Those timetable pages are very useful, but it's a shame they have to be mobile-friendly and bitty, rather than the single pdf we were allowed a few years ago.
Not too thrilled that the DLR will be changing from transverse seats to longitudinal ones. Transverse seats are more comfortable, especially with high performance vehicles, because you don't get thrown from side to side. You also get a much better view out of the window.

At least the number of seats isn't being decreased. Hope they won't be as uncomfortable as the Jubilee Line seats installed a few years ago !

You'd really think that TfL would have a basic knowledge of English. At Improving the DLR they state "The transverse seats at either end will stay where they are", i.e. the seats at one end will be converted, but the other end will stay the same.

That's probably not what they really meant: the rapidly-vanishing little word they are looking for is EACH.
@PoP or you could go to the timetable page, which links to DLR, tube, team and boat timetables https://tfl.gov.uk/travel-information/timetables/
Thanks Ben,

I'd swear that never used to be there in that easy to access form. That will save me lots of time.
I differ about the relative comfort of long' vs. trans' seating in the particular case, since the DLR stock suffers from an intrusive and irritating rocking motion. Sometimes it's so bad that it makes the wheels screech in unison on perfectly straight sections of track. I'm sure this must limit the running speed in places, too. This makes for transverse being more uncomfortable, though it's sometimes amusing to see the synchronised swaying of passengers, even if the view from the side is not so good.

The power of DG... There's now a slightly more detailed poster at all DLR stations https://instagram.com/p/6cmv8yrbS4/
Thanks Ben. Those signs definitely weren't there yesterday. It is of course possible that they're part of a planned communications campaign with one week to go.
All trains will be operated with two carriages? I thought we'd moved to a minimum of two carriages years ago.
@Ben 12.36 That s a useful link thank you, but it's still not timetables as I understand them, more a list of trains between two particular stations. Is there anywhere that shows a proper timetable with stations down the page and time across the page?
@ DG: It is of course possible that they're part of a planned communications campaign with one week to go.

I doubt it.

Will this timetable change resolve the West India Quay ambiguity?

"At certain times, trains from Bank towards Lewisham will not stop at West India Quay."

What certain times? I have been wolfing out at the weekend and they take the original route or the new rollercoaster seemingly at random (whereas I am sure I recall the West India Quay route being Monday to Friday only, and before the evening)
It was only fairly recently that we got 3-car trains on the Stratford-Canary Wharf service at weekends, now it looks like they're going back to 2 but at a better frequency, which is good.

At the moment I use the Beckton - West Ham service every weekend to get home, as the Beckton - Tower Gateway service gets to Poplar just in time to miss making a connection to the Stratford service, so it's generally quicker to go up to West Ham and get the tube across to Bow Road instead. I can't say it's the most heavily-loaded service I've ever seen!
I must say that I prefer the new longitudinal seating layout on the DLR.
During busy periods the current layout makes it difficult to stand in between the sets of doors, resulting in a crush at the door. With longitudinal you can spread out across the car, making for a more comfortable journey.
One annoying thing about the TFL journey planner DLR info, was that it never used to give accurate information on last DLR trains between Stratford and All Saints/Canary Wharf. For example, it used to give 0028 as the last train from Bow Church soutbound Mon-Sat, when in fact this was the last train with a connection to Lewisham, and there was an 0039 to Canary Wharf and an 0048 and 0058 as far as All Saints. But these later trains were never shown, even if you just put in Bow Church-Devons Road as your journey.

Not sure if this situation still occurs. I don't think the last trains are as late now (any may be even earlier from next week?).
As mentioned in the article the TFL journey Planner has been 'improved' and got a lot worse - who makes these decisions? Anybody like the new version?
