Nice to see a route extended, normally these days they seem to get shortened and split up into sections.
One route which was slightly extended a few year back was the 237, which now goes on to White City because, Westfields opened, having previously terminated at Shepherds Bush Green. Mind you it has also had a much larger shortening of its route at the other end several years back, it now stops at Hounslow Heath, whereas once it went all the way to Sunbury Village.

Interesting seeing that, on the link to the S2, you were complaining that those same elderly Bromley-by-Bow shoppers would have to use the underpass and walk down the road because they weren't allowed to stay on the bus past the terminus and get carried there. At what point did TfL reverse that decision?

And now I know why, when I visited Sutton regularly, it had an S1, S3, S4 (and later S7, which metamorphosed into the 470), but never an S2!

After two months, TfL allowed Tesco shoppers to stay on board and catch the next 488 back. This even merited an official press release, so it must have been serious.

Then last year they tweaked the 488's final destination to Tesco, rather than Twelvetrees Crescent, which solved the problem (but rather messed up anyone trying to get to the tube station).

@Swirlythingy:
The 'S' in S2 originally stood for 'Stratford' and there was an S1, S2 and S3. Then LT lost interest, the S1 (Stratford circular) became the 104 and the S3 was incorporated into another route (can't remember which), and so the 'S' prefix was allocated to Sutton !
