The entrance & coach combo from Victoria is £189 for a family of four. Almost two hundred quid for a family day out. I'm struggling to hold back from expletives.. how much power can a brand carry?

The adverts I've seen all refer to 'Warner Brothers London' - I'm sure Watford's residents (let alone Three Rivers' ones) are very pleased to have their town on the international map in this way (not).

Never mind Potter, what about the North Croxley Curve?!

I'm sure a few visits to charity shops will provide all the novels for a lot less than £21!

Hopefully there will eventually be some discounts for us Three Rivers residents once the fuss has died down and they're looking to fill time slots later on in the year

The access road is called "Studio Tour Tour Drive"?!

Also, how could Harry Potter have been filmed on stages J & K when they have only just been built to house the studio tour?

dg writes: Sorry Dave. Post now doubly updated.

Interesting info on the link to Leavesden Aerodrome about the manufacture of the Mosquito Fighter Aircraft during the war.
DG, have you visited the Mosquito Museum, not so far away in London Colney? It's an excellent well run museum, very cheap to enter and well worth a visit. http://www.dehavillandmuseum.co.uk/
Just down the road is the Arsenal training ground. The public are not admitted but there is a public footpath that runs right next to it...

I remember that building, my mother worked there during the war.

Can anyone recommend a good book?

But are there kittens in Umbridge's office?

@Bernie: There may be a public footpath running alongside the training ground, but there is also an extremely high hedge, so there's not a huge amount to see apart from signs warning you about CCTV.

Thanks Simon, didn't know about the hedge.

Thanks Simon, didn't know about the hedge.

I started off reading this post with an "oh wow!", and finished it with an "oh"!
Can't make up my mind whether to go or not now! It's a bit steep, even if I don't take the kidlets!

Don't think I can afford the 1+3 for us; would anyone recommend a cheapskate day out of just going on the Tour Bus? I can get to Watford Junction cheaply using 258 bus, then pay £2 for each of us for the HP bus ride - with no actual Harry Potter Studio Tour tickets at all.
Firstly - would the bus driver let us on (ie not check for booked tickets), 2ndly, what do I get for my £8? Is a 15 ride x2 really worth it? I guess we could get off for an hour or so and try get some photo's. What say ya'll?
Great blog btw!
Hi Nino. I really wouldn't bother.

The bus driver may not let you on. The bus journey is nothing special. When you arrive at the other end you won't be allowed in. There's nothing to photograph except a huge shed.

If you don't buy a proper tour ticket, it's really pointless going.
