So how much was the flight?
(oh and bonus points for the Kraftwerk reference)
I always hoped UK would sign the Schengen agreement. Would be great to just get on a train in UK and head of to Continental Europe with no border hold ups.
I have done the train journey from Alicante (Spain) to London several times, and find that the dearest leg of the journey is the Paris to London section, crossing the channel seems so expensive.
By train or car traveling around Schengen Europe without the borders is far better than the days of controlled crossing.
I find that airfares are normally cheaper than the train, but I try to use train for my European journeys whenever I can. So nice looking out the window of the train all day.
The flight was £71
(BA, standard class, Heathrow to Tegel)
Refreshments: one drink and a bag of crisps

The train was £97
(London Spezial, 1st class)
Refreshments: two course meal with wine
Spunds like ideal knitting time. What is the railways' policies towards knitting needles?

Cos some seem to regard them as potential weapons - which they could be, I suppose. Generally it is safer to let a knitter knit than to remove their needles and leave them with no comfort/safety occupation!
'Hanover' seems so much more acceptable -it's probably subjective, I know. We had a very helpful lady who explained why we had to change onto an ICE train to Berlin from the train we were already on which itself was going to Berlin.
