Another enjoyable and informative post DG.

Crossing from Regents Park in to Baker Street, there is a cast iron manhole cover with slatting, through which running water can be heard. Is this the Tyburn?

Many thanks for this serise.

As you walk along Great Peter Street in Westminster you get a fairly strong smell of drains, particularly at the junction with Lord North Street. I've long (and perhaps a little romantically) thought it was part of the Thorney Island branch of the Tyburn. Sadly I think it was supposed to have run a little further north, more along Great College Street, but hey ho - one can but dream.

The King's Scholars' Pond Sewer also goes very close to Victoria Station and the need to take that into account is one reason why the upgrade to the underground station is so expensive and will take until 2018 to complete.

Excellent series by the way - and on a subject that isn't/wasn't until now well documented. You must have put a lot of effort into this.

I love these ones.

Makes me imagine what London must've looked like back then.

"His priories were mostly fish-related" sounds like a fishy religious nut to me...
