Bit quiet around here. Your hop festival pics look as though you'd had a few pints of Spitfire beforehand. As a child, I remember you had to pay to and stand on the empty bit of Herne Bay pier to stare at the bit that had burned down. Such fun....
I always find desolate British seaside towns very depressing, but having grandparents who lived in one, I also loved the quietness of "ours", off season.
I hope they had enjoyed a booming season until this point.

16. Brides in the Bath Murders - 80 High Street

First murder (thank you Dorothy Sayers)

In 1912, George Joseph Smith, alias Henry Williams, brought his new bride Bessie Mundy to live in Herne Bay for the express purpose of obtaining her monetary legacy, whether by fair means or foul.
I love seaside resorts off-season. But its alarmingly soon to be quite so off-season!
I think you are not doing justice to the Hop Festival. First of all it is one of Europe's largest free music festivals - with stages in the streets and in pub gardens and in some other venues. Second you don't have to drink to enjoy it. Third the music is much more varied than just folk music - with rock, jazz, swing, country and much more.
