Looking forward to hearing about Brownsea, I love it there and go at least once every year.
Is that a brief glimpse of DG's elbows in the Fish and Chip shop photo?
Aside from the recycling bins, there's a place called 'County Gates' where Poole becomes Bournemouth (and Dorset became Hampshire, formerly).

I don't know if there were ever actually some gates there, but I like to think so.

Well, those old gates are rather more scenic than the HUGE County Gates roundabout (aka 'Frizzell's in my day) where the office girls would sunbathe in their lunch hour, sometimes acquiring adder bites as a reward...
Thanks! Good to know that they have been preserved!
Had 2 holidays in Poole back in early 90's. Really enjoyed crab fishing off the harbour wall amongst other things.
Good write up of my home town. A couple of corrections - the continuous conurbation actually consists of three towns, Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch, which are all very distinct from each other.

Also, half of Dolphin Mall was built in the 1970s and Falkland Square dates from the 1980s. So you are seeing nearly 4 decades of architectural brilliance.

Lovely to see my home town on here! There's a huge number of Poole residents in London, not surprising as relatively affluent, good schools and London is the nearest big city - plus all the links between finance/insurance firms in Poole/Bournemouth and London. Poole, Bournemouth, East Dorset and Christchurch could soon combine into one single local authority so the bins may soon be consistent.
