This is a good post - one variation might be how much tax do Londoners pay compared with XXX.
Wow! Interesting comparisons.
Do a version with London vs other countries

Very interesting. I hadn't realised , (assuming population trends have been similar in Greater London and in the Home Counties since 1965) quite how much of the populations of Surrey and Essex (nearly half) were taken by Greater London in the relatively small areas it took over in 1965.

What does Kent look like?
It takes a country as great as Austria to beat Greater London.
Is there a branch of Iceland in Newham?
Brilliant post dg.
It would be interesting to see how much of the Scottish population overlay , for example, is represented by a single big city.
WOW!

It would appear that Greater London has a bigger population than Scotland & Wales combined, that's something I never realised.

That's weird the square not coloured in is Barking & Dagenham and where do I live?
Barking!
Scotland is about 5m. Edinburgh and Glasgow are each about half a million.

The next biggest city in England (after London) is Birmingham which is about one million.
You have to be careful with definitions of city populations. The City of Manchester is quite small (about half a million), but if you include Salford, Stockport, and the rest of Greater Manchester, it is five times as big and bigger, making it twice as big as the City of Birmingham.
Well, quite. The City of London is less than 10,000.
@"What does Kent look like?"

By my calculations, it looks like Bromley, Bexley, Greenwich, Lewisham (approximately the pre-1888 boundaries of Kent) plus Southwark
