Kim: surely the "gravel lorries driving in a bike lane" problem eclipses any headphone debate - better hearing only tells you that the lorry is there, not whether he plans to pull alongside and then turn left while overtaking.

What would your headphoneless cyclist do - an emergency-stop every time they hear a vehicle about to overtake?
