Can I be the first to ask how you managed to capture a DLR train displaying all these destinations?

So.... how is it done? Please tell me there's a USB port, you plugged a keyboard in, pressed CTRL-ALT-DEL and during the matrix's bootup sequence it flashes through all the names!! :)

Time travel.

@ geofftech - USB? More like a serial port...! ;-)

I travel regulary on the South Eastern High Speed service into St Pancras from Folkstone and you'd be amazed at the numbers who disembark, as I was at Stratford international. And not all were wearing day glo vests

Didn't trains stabled in Beckton depot used to show "Brunswick"? Also, on Stratford Regional station, I believe the mezzanine ticket hall extension is supposed to open this Sunday (6/3).

Crikey, DG's hotwired a DLR train!

Yup, they did used to show "Brunswick".

The same happens on buses - check East End buses when they come to the end of the line for a glimpse of "STRATFORD CITY" when the destination blinds roll around. And the 129, which runs from one end of Greenwich to the other, has a full set of "via South Bermondsey" and "via Convoys Wharf" blinds made up for an extension which hasn't happened yet, through a development which hasn't even got planning permission.

Actually, the Stratford International extension was *originally* planned to open in "late 2009".

And the latest London Connections map at http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/passenger_services/maps/London_Connections.pdf it's shown as "Summer 2011".

From Wikipedia, in itself from Mr Beck's Underground Map p63:

"East India station was originally to be named Brunswick Wharf and this name was shown on the 1994 'all projections' map[2]. 'Brunswick' is now a code destination used to indicate that a train in the depot has been cleaned."

The mystery count is the number of times DG has hotwired a trains DMI. If only he'd of done this last month, dammit.

I reckon DG got an "unwanted" E Mail from DLR and *did* take them up of their kind offer of a ride on the new line. Lucky b*&^%r.

Oh and how do I detect that DG has (kindly) linked to one of my Flickr photos? Ah yes - that will the one with the highest views today :-)

i quite regularly alight at stratford international and take that bus to platofrm 11.. I can confirm there are a lot of people doing it now.. indeed more than one bus-full, so there is even a bit of a race to get the first one.

the big irritation? bigger than the bus.. passengers are delivered directly to platform 11, railside, and there is no Oystercard reader to swipe your ENTRY at straford... so when you get to your destination you are going to get an EXIT with no entry, and a penalty charge.

Even when you know this, it is still impossible to avoid...
