Don't forget there are tours of the Olympic Park too.

The last Open House chance before the Games. Which I thought you'd have highlighted considering it's the 2nd most frequent topic on here...

(And can't someone else book your ticket for you?)

The Olympic Tour tickets aren't available until Monday 15th. Hurrah, I'm not in a meeting then :)

Chuck a sickie. Problem solved. Sore throat? Migraine? I can feel it now.

I remember visiting the Post Office Tower (old name) when it was first built and you could visit and ride to the top just by turning up and buying a ticket. I have also been up the Natwest (old name) tower when it first opened. ( I was quite exited to watch that buildings construction)
In those days there was far less if any security checks.
Likewise at the BBC TV Centre I went there when it first opened!
I'm hoping to visit the Shard when it opens next year, my idea is always try to visit these new places when there are first built, before someone decides to close them.
Remember they did open a tower at Canary Wharf a few years back, but that was soon shut down, and before I got there!.
The Shell Building near Waterloo also has a viewing gallery floor (now closed) and that also-when the building first opened- was turn up buy a ticket and ascend.- I did it when it was open.
That's something about being older an having lived in London most of your life, you look through the Open House guide and say "I've been there already". So now I look out for newly constructed buildings that are open
for the weekend.

Trellick-been there (thanks KP)

55 Broadway-been there

BT Tower-been there *at night* (thanks hubby)

St Pancras Hotel-I'm already booked!

London Bridge vaults-home Monday morning; guess where I''ll be at 10 am.

1001 and Tower 42 already fully booked!

Tower 42 must have been gone in 30 seconds. Probably my fault for wanting 2 tickets its easier for requests for 1 no typing of duplicate info (copying/pasting isnt much quicker)
London Bridge Station about 2 minutes.
The 2 I wanted most.
Oh well I am going to Caanary Wharf and West Ham Bus Garage so happy enough.

Cheers DG! Thanks to your post I bagged a pair of those coveted 55 Broadway tickets :-)

Don't pay £6.50 for a programme! You can pick them up for free from any library...sneaky way to make some extra cash!

Tfl's gonna sell 55 Broadway?

By the way, I happened to get a ticket for the 55 Broadway tour tonight (the Tuesday before the Open Weekend).

Then, an hour later, I still had that window open and I saw another ticket for it come available for 20 seconds (then it was gone).

So it's definitely worth checking the site in the days leading up to the weekend if you are interested in that particular tour.

Yay - just found out that I got tickets for the BT Tower!
