Excellent.
Fantastic DG. Albeit not satirical, Glenn Greenwald's piece in Monday's Guardian, "Margaret Thatcher and misapplied death etiquette", hits exactly the same note. Well worth a read.
Seeing that John Lennon, George Best and Robin Hood all have airports named after them - it is only fair that London City Airport (with fast links to her beloved Canary Wharf) be renamed immediately to Margaret Thatcher International Airport. Then the future estuary airport can be named for Boris.
I propose that we rename one of London's airports in her honour.

How does Nelson Mandela international airport work for everyone?
Magnificent!
Living abroad I've found out that all British Embassies have been encouraged to cancel social events on the day of the funeral as a mark of respect
Good piece. The increasing emphasis on "no criticism" of Mrs T or her actions is vomit inducing. We are supposed to live in a democracy with free speech. If this nonsense carries on we'll be a mirror image of the personality obsessed society that is North Korea. We should be grown up enough to accept a range of views and opinions.
We walked Oscar on the WonderWorld site ( a proposal to build a massive theme park in Corby to make up for closing the Steel Works http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/domesday/dblock/GB-488000-288000/page/11 ).

It is still a barren wasteland, where nothing much grows, were successive grandiose schemes have failed, and Red Kites scavenge.
Excellent. But I for one will be glad when all this is over and we can get back to moaning about tax cuts and benefits scroungers again! (waves irony flag)
Nicely done. For a few moments I thought I was on the KCNA website.
Hostility to criticism only draws attention to it. The fact is that she was admired and reviled in roughly equal measure, but it seems a bit unseemly to hold parties celebrating her (or anyone's) death. There is plenty of time to dissect her record and legacy after the funeral.
@PC : I think we HAVE had a full range of views - you try playing "Ding Dong the witch (or male equiv) is dead" on North Korean Radio when the Dear Leader has just died, and see what happens to you. That's coz Britain IS a demokrasy, despite NuLibor ! Depending on your viewpoint, you could say that the amount of negativity we've heard about Thatch is also vomit inducing.
Thank you.
Whatever the criticisms against the late Baroness Thatcher, you've got to hand it to her, she was a true friend to her friends.
Take for example General Pinochet. He got kicked off power, he had all sorts of horrible things said against him, he was chased worldwide by the courts, but Baroness Thatcher remained a staunch friend of his, and gave him shelter.
If you are looking for a location for a statue, Port Stanley might be best.

A permanent raspberry to the Argies.
The same line of thought that 75 years ago saw General Franco as 'a Christian gentleman' now sees Baroness Thatcher as a freedom-lover liberal. Not surprising.
Your cynicism is most appropriate and appreciated!
'La Baronessa Blue' or 'The Blue Barroness' Chief Executive Box can be incorporated/installed overlooking the 'Hussain Bolt Stand' in the away end of WHUFC's New Olympic Stadium Ground, but not at the expence of West Hams current owners. Corporate Groups that can document Credit Card and other individual or personal Debit of over 1500-00 pounds in British Pounds Sterling will qualify for free entry, soup and a dry bread roll when WHUFC draw Millwall FC at home allbeit in Cup competions. Please note that quite fitting for the Baroness Memorial one will find the atmosphere in West Ham's New Stadium as Dead. Happy days.
Shouldn't it be a Bank Holiday to watch her funeral?
Will the Queen's funeral be a Bank Holiday?
Lots of nice details here, like the third of a pint bottles of milk and the 'If you see Sid tell him' game. I lolled.
Love it!
