Ha! "Artisan"-style crisps £2 a modest bag at the Playhouse Theatre last night.Did taste good though.
Rip off. They're normally around 65p!
Ridiculous, but typical. Outside Stonebridge Park Station there is only one place to buy food, a tiny newsagents stall, and they know it. £1.20 for a can of coke! Or maybe that was especially for me.

Is there anything that varies in price more than crisps depending on where you buy them and in what quantity??

e.g.

- Standard bag of crisps (e.g. Walkers) in cafe/pub: 80p - £1
- Same bag of crisps from the sandwich delivery van that comes to our office: 70p
- Same bag of crisps from newsgents: 50p-60p
- Same bag of crisps from a supermarket: 35p
- 18 x multipack @ £3.99 in supermarket = 22p per bag
- Same 18 x multipack when on BOGOF = 11p

So anything between around 10p and £1 for a standard bag of Walkers, and that's without taking into account supermarket own brands and "artisan" crisps at the extreme ends of the scale.

But 85p in a newsagent? You deserved a table and waiter service for that price (!)
@Dicky, I think you will find you can't compare multi pack crisps to a single pack unless you are accounting for weight as single packs are around 50g per pbag but multi pack bags are usually about 35g a bag I believe
Further to my comment above I just went to the vending machine in my office to buy a packet of crisps, just for research purposes you understand, and I found the single packs are 32.5g not 50g like i believed. I am still sure though that generally bags of crisps in multipacks are smaller than single packs but unfortunately unless I pop out to the local supermartket to buy a multipack I can't confirm that.
Are you sure the pain au chocolat was fresh, and not bought from a supermarket at 20p each then reheated?
A 37.5g pack of Walkers at Sainsburys at Vauxhall tube costs 55p. A 50g pack of McCoys at the rip-off gouge-mart in the station has just gone up from 90p to £1.25!
