Only 1hr in the Russell Cotes art gallery, this is a fascinating place, building and contents, its also lovely for a refreshment break. I was close if you had continued to Hengistbury Head, a ferry trip to Mudeford quay where I enjoyed a local caught crab sandwich
I wish you'd said where you went. I've got today off work, to extend the holiday weekend just a little bit further, and rather fancied a jaunt to the seaside. I suppose I'll have to Google places with two piers and a cliff railway. I can think of plenty with a lift and single pier, but the second of the latter is proving troublesome!
Ah, thanks Nick, I had wondered about going there anyway, though didn't know it had the aforementioned two piers...
Robert, a click on the Flickr link will answer your question...
Glad the weather was good for the Monday Bank Holiday, here in Spain, Monday, which like UK was part of an Easter 4 day break, was partly cloudy and windy.
I used to go to Bournemouh on Wednesday lunchtimes for theatre organ concerts at the Pavilion, used to get the coach from Heathrow cost was £10 return. The coach station in Bournemouh is by the train station so still a long walk to the seafront.
Max Bygraves had a home at Bournemouth.
The unitary authority boundary gave it away for me - sad, isn't it?
Lovely photos,DG. Wish I'd been there. Haven't visited Bournemouth since, oooooh, last Christmas. It hasn't changed much except for that ugly pile of a building now overshadowing the church. 😎
Lovely pics, as ever.
Which Bryant & May? If it's The Burning Man I haven't read it yet, so don't tell me about it.
We saw a comedy legend (87, absolute genius and he finished early at midnight ! ) this weekend at the beautiful Art Deco theatre at the resort you visited. Though we did not visit for ourselves it is opposite what must be the only Art Deco Premier Inn in the UK.
Bournemouth has never been the same since they got rid of Trolleybuses
The £15 offer is available until the 17th, as I discovered at the ticket office an hour ago. Thanks for the inspiration DG.
20:45 Start looking through today's photos (I appear to have taken 342). Most are not as good as I'd hoped.

Story of my life, right there.
No wonder you get so much done - you barely sleep, and never seem to stop to eat!!!
We escaped London to Henley on Thames and it was just as glorious.
Glad you enjoyed your visit to I think some people were down here yesterday for
It's just as glorious a day here today.
xx:yy Like style of report.
xx:yy+1 Wonder if flickr photos in reverse order, or jumbled
xx:yy+5 Admit relieved not had to look at all 342. Good selection made.
xx:yy+10 Admire DG's stamina
Since 1970?! Do you remember that far back DG? Gosh...I can't recall anything from when I was 4/5years old.
15:00 - They are called chines locally, but that might have been a clue.

Lovely on Salisbury Plain, but rather windy and lots of people compared to other years. Saw a number playing on the two burnt-out tanks near one of the tracks, despite all the signs warning of unexploded military debris! Maybe practicing their entries for the annual Darwin Awards?
@OnTheBus at 6.27pm: Given DG’s desire to record everything, perhaps he started a diary as soon as he could write :)
Having gone for a stroll on Bournemouth's seafront myself on Monday, I can't help but wonder if I passed the legendary Geezer without realising it...
