St George's Cathedral ws built on the field where the Gordon Riots broke out.
Hey, I went to St George's Road a while back and it turned out to be a very expensive trip.
The last time I'd driven a car anywhere near 'the centre of London' during the day, had probably been when the Congestion Charge zone applied only around the City and stopped at the river. It never crossed my mind that they might have extended it, but they obviously had and St George's Road is now one of the roads on its southern boundary.
Sorry Roger, this part of London has always been part of the congestion zone.

It is after all part of Zone 1!

If said "first" journey was/is outside of the "operational hours/days" then one would be none the wiser. Many "once in a blue moon" drivers into London have been "caught-out" by not knowing about the CCZ even with all the signs. The first they'll know is the fine that arrives in the post.
I never knew that Richard, thank you. Some irony.
I can attest to the CCZ always going south of the river. It's the reason why the EasyCar pickup on Snowfields relocated. (And then vanished entirely along with the rest of EasyCar, but it was good while it lasted as a car rental and not a price comparison site.)
St George as our patron saint is a Plantagenet import - bring back the Saxon Edward the Confessor (and then we can have a bank holiday in October)
And how progressive was the CCZ Western Extension. Little lasting against the force of (well-to-do) Kensingston & Chelsea residents.

Correct on every point. Your term "once in a blue moon" driver is much nearer than the mark than another commenter here who once called me a "petrol head" for the simple reason I'd said I owned a car.
