Great walk, DG - thanks! And a good example of where photos really are necessary to make sense of it all.

I like the BOW sculpture too.
The "mystery statue installation team" must have been very busy last week. A brand new - and surprisingly large - statue has appeared at the roundabout outside LondonCityAirport. I think it's meant to represent an athlete - but I'm not 100% sure...
Did you manage the whole walk, with all those photographs, without being challenged by officialdom? It made a good read, thanks.
DG - Thanks so much for your efforts, it's been a few weeks since I was down there (although I have visited the John Lewis viewing bit a couple of times since) so it's good to get an update.

It will be interesting to see what remains into "legacy" when we get our East London back.

Thanks again

I remember one of those Blue Badge guides enthusing about the Athletes' Village's great architectural merits, in terms such as, "There are eleven different blocks and each one has been designed by a different architect!" I couldn't resist asking, "So how come they all look exactly the same?"

She also revealed that the total capacity of the various press centres is rather larger than the total capacity of the village. Just in case you might have thought it was about sport...

"Marshagte Lane" in the final caption.
Brilliant set of posts DG, thank you
I walked around the entire perimeter of the Olympic Park waving a camera, twice, without once being stopped and questioned by anyone.

But security's hyped up somewhat since the weekend, so I don't think I'd manage the same today.
Tesco have already nudged their way into Stratford - there's a Tesco Express in what was The Pigeons pub on Romford Road.
It's been a great series of posts and photos, thanks DG!
I can confirm that the army are monitoring things more closely now. Took a final visit to Pudding Mill Lane DLR before it closes, and got questioned over my photography on Pudding Mill Lane. Not complaining though: reasonable chaps & since I'm going to be on the inside a few times I'm glad they're keeping an eye out.
