When I was growing up we had one of those ghastly lamps. Even as a child I thought it was ghastly. WHY did all the grownups think it was so stylish?

It has overtones of a cross between a taxidermic puffer fish and Star Trek modernism. Add in a good coating of dust and the result is complete YUCK!

It's interesting that so much of 50's styling is only remembered as kitch of the worst possible taste.
I went there last year during the Christmas break thanks to you mentioning it on here. It was great to see how the Christmas decorations have change over the different decades.
That rug takes me back to my childhood! we had one in blue I seem to remember.
