Once again a very interesting post for me DG, although by the lack of comments yesterday perhaps all your readers are not quite so excited as I am, and not a mention of cats.
"it's a stark reminder of how many people are going to be out of a job in two months time." And that DG will have to be looking for new subject matter!
@ Roger B - I doubt that DG will need new material. He's got all the de-commissioning to report on and then how things re-open and what lasts or what gets neglected after the Olympics have left town. Who buys what bit of legacy and what they do with it. He's got decades of E20 watching ahead of him!
"Batten down the hatches" indeed! It's going to be an interesting two months for the residents. I for one am interested in seeing how it goes from an insiders point of view, as compared to what we're told on TV!
Just received a letter from the council informing me that refuse must be left out overnight whilst the Olympics are running as collections will comence at 5am, the foxes will be happy.
I knew someone who lived in Dennison Point, pity that the council have not kept up the maintenance on the building.
Lets hope the new buildings will be well designed.
The slideshow around the perimeter is excellent. What a total transformation – although I still reckon that with a bit of imagination a spruced-up Manor Garden allotments could have been included to promote genuine sustainable living, hopefully inspiring visitors/tourists to try it for themselves when they got home. Massive sporting events cannot, by their very nature, be called green or sustainable.
