East Croydon has, if I am not mistaken, different figures for its two entry's, 21m and 20.6m both data from 2008/9.

That's called 'rounding', John :)

But there may well be some genuine mistakes in there.

Liverpool Central's the one that jumps out to me. 5th busiest nationally and it only serves three suburban lines. Surprised that Lime Street, it's mainline neighbour doesn't figure.

What are the asterisks for (eg on Sudbury Hill Harrow and Liverpool Central)?

Ah, just realised - presumably previously outside the top ten. Sorry, a bit slow this morning...

What's actually being counted? Bodies through gates, or ticket types through gates?

Blackhorse Road Underground station has 5.7 million entries/exits, yet the adjoining National Rail (Overground) station only has 69,990 entries/exits - very odd. How do they (or don't they) count Oyster use on |National Rail?

That's a huge number of passengers for North Greenwhich for a station that I'm guessing doesn't have all that many daily commuters - so most of that must come from all the visitors to the dome?

Geoff - Loads of people from all over SE London use North Greenwich as a railhead - the number of people who get out of the station and wait for buses to places like Woolwich, Charlton, Eltham and Sidcup is huge, and in the morning rush hour even more so. Plus it has the benefit that even if you live in Zone 4 you can get away with a travelcard for zones 1 and 2!

@ Greg.Tingey

I've noticed you on a few London transport blogs of late Greg - bit of a troll, aren't you? Maybe it might be worth holding fore on some of the comments until you've fully thought through your arguments and can put them across in a sensible, coherent fashion that won't rub people up the wrong way.

No, not dedicated ones. Blackhorse Road is a combined station (Overground and LU). Therefore, if I recall correctly, passengers can change from one to the other without passing through the ticket gates and if they do so then they are not counted.

The final link in the article provides a link to both the data and report relating to the National Rail figures. The latter explains explains methodology, potential inaccuracies, talks about interchange passengers and more.
