That's the first time I have come out in a rash from just reading a blog post

A new circle of Hell.

I much preferred the old Swiss Centre. I remember going to it when it was built and not long been open and there was a Swiss restaurant inside in those days. Pity it was demolished. Nice to read that the clock is coming back.
I have passed the replacment building many times but nothing has entice me inside yet.
I shall be pleased when the work in Leicester Square is over.
Westminster Council have strange ideas.
They are redesigning Leicester Square, although I never heard anyone complain about it in the past, I just think they want to make it more suitable for movie premieres and line their pockets with cash from the motion picture companies when they hire the Square.
Crazy Westminster Council also closed the very handy subways around Marble Arch, forcing every one to walk in the busy roads when crossing.
They banned "sandwich" boards in Oxford Street which were sometimes useful and added character, and now they propose to charge for vehicle parking 7 days a week up to midnight.
Westfield's shopping malls must be very pleased.

Wait for the M&Ms in the Olympic Colours....

OMG! I must remember that place next time I visit London!

A plastic wine bottle full of M&M's for £14.95.
Recession, what recession?
Are people that stupid they pay 15 quid for novely sweets.
Wake me up...I must live in another World.

Nothing makes my skin crawl more than a blatant celebration of consumerism like this. And why cut up a perfectly decent, serviceable bus to create a rather naff looking entrance? Use a glass fibre model instead.

Peanut M&M's? Yuck!

Unbelievably, the next big thing in the shopping industry is "retailtainment". Expect to see lots more horrid places like this.

Very noble and self-sacrificing of you, DG, to go to such a place, so that we don't have to. Sounds like one of Dante's circles of hell - for gluttony maybe?

What on earth possessed you to make you go inside?

What amazed me is that the place is open until midnight every day of the week (except Sunday). I could well imagine it stays busy that late in the evening too.

The Cheery, Cheesy staff are probably degree or PhD graduates that can't get a job.

Depressing.

Thanks for the heads-up DG. Just popped down to experience it myself, arrived just before they opened with cheers and shrieks from the staff and crowd of about 100 people outside.
It really is hell on earth, I made a small purchase gift for a friend, and had to q for ages, despite 6 members of staff behind the till, 3 of which looked at me, then carried on dancing. Eventually found a till that actually wanted to take my cash.
At least it's now somewhere I can say I've done and NEVER have to do again.

It's a horrible, horrible, overpriced hell hole.

When I was in there the other week me and a friend played a game of "guess the price". Both of us were estimating up for London, and brand value, and were still 10-20% under what they were charging.

M&Ms are horrible anyway.

This tourist will not be going there next week.

I prefer Smartie World.....

Thank you DG for drawing my attention to this exceptional London attraction. I paid a visit last week and had lots of fun, and shared my photos with my friends :)

I walked past it yesterday but didn't think to go in. Actually, it reminded me of a similar store on Broadway in NYC, although I haven't been inside that one either.

Like others, I preferred the original version of the Swiss Centre, when it served Swiss food in a selection of different styled restaurants. Of course, that would be for Londoners rather than tourists so was probably in the wrong place.

m&ms have undefined "flavouring" in them, which is usually msg or some other unhealthy taste enhancer, and it is either that or the unnatural artificial colours (never necessary, usually not healthy) which give me a pounding msg headache and a spaced-out feeling when i eat them.
i used to love them when i was a kid in the 70s, but i think their recipe altered 10-15 years ago.
this is a horrifying idea for a shop. thank you for letting me know it exists so i won't ever go there by mistake.

Not MSG: M&Ms do not taste of unami it up)
