Aha.

Hurrah! I love random boroughs.

Pedant hat on. Strictly speaking, London has 32 boroughs, as the Corporation of London has a separate legal standing to the others. I'll go and get a life now.

Let's hope its somewhere with a cat's home ...

THC: how about the City of Westminister?

That's a London borough Martin. The 32 London boroughs were created by the London Government Act 1963 and came into being in 1965. (The City of London Corporation is the country's oldest local authority, tracing its roots back to the creatin of the Court of Common Council in the fourteenth century.) The conferral of City status is for ceremonial purposes only and does not affect or enhance the powers available to local authorities styled as city councils. Hope you're still awake, btw...

Absolutely. This blog recognises that the City of London is not a borough. But it went into the jamjar anyway.

Please come and visit Barnet. It is a fabulous amalgamation of so many different communities yet often gets overlooked because we are out on the fringes.

I've been waiting seven years to visit Barnet, but it hasn't come out of the jamjar yet. Yet.

Your jam jar has a thing against the eastern provinces of London it would appear.

"I've been waiting seven years to visit Barnet"
I don't suppose many people have said that.
