Excellent! Langdon Park DLR station will open to serve the sink Teviot Estate. Nice to see police and revenue staff on duty at Bow Church station tonight, but for most of the year expect more teenage rif-raff and muggers to flood the Bow Road area.

And, if the London Overground timetable's anything to go by, there's a big pointless orange thing going to Croydon too...

Hong Kong also now has a new tube map, since the MTR and KCR systems merge on Sunday -- really, they're just adding the KCR lines and renaming them, much like with the Overground.

I also can't find the new map anywhere online. I imagine the MTR website has it, but the site... doesn't work. These are the people who are going to be operating Crossrail. Hmm.

Aren't we supposed to switch to a system with 9 zones instead of 1-6, A-D then? That's what the maps on London Overground ticket machines indicates indicate.

No orange thing going to Croydon.
And no zones 1-9, just 1-6 and A-D.

This is on the map I've seen, anyway. It almost certainly won't be the final January design.

Redrawing the Canary Wharf area is definitely a good thing, given how awful it is to try to use Canary Wharf as an interchange. It definitely should never have been marked as a single station on the map.

It's a fine line between simplicity and reality. Harry Beck used to concentrate on the former.

The Canary Wharf interchange now looks so complicated that the map would frighten off many passengers from ever going there.
And it's geographically incorrect.

Shepherd's Bush overground station should be open on dec 9... but it probably won't be given it's chequered opening history...

What a truly awful website that FOTCR™ St Pancras is. Someone should tell the townie web developers that robins don't fly like owls.

That website is awful.
In addition to the "calender" clanger, I note that the 'Internal Plan' in the 'Events Guide' calls it a "Seasonal Calendar", whatever one of those might be.

If you visit a new thread on the Transport Forum, you'll see the picture I took of the zonal map that shows zones 7 to 9 - http://billz1064.proboards1.com/

You can see the twisted set of worms that shows the bus replacement service at the bottom of http://alex4d.wordpress.com/londons-tube-map

Back at the ChristmasAtStPancras homepage,
I wonder which misguided US-based Flash developer thinks that Victorian St Pancras might have had a "Camden Parlor".

Not just ticket zones 1-9 on the new map but also, because LMR wouldn't play ball and allow Watford Junction to be in the zones, a zone 'W' just for that station!

I see the horrific advertising is still there. Are AEG paying for it?

Re Canary Wharf: as a tourist, I find the new design much more informative. I recall attempting to transfer between the Jubilee Line and the DLR a year ago and being quite annoyed that the map made it look like a single station, when in fact it's not -- and Heron Quays is closer, to boot.

I really don't think a little extra clarity is going to frighten off anyone. And I'm not sure why geographical correctness is relevant...lots of aspects of the Tube map aren't geographically correct.
