I think Hadleigh Farm is owned by the Salvation Army, so maybe it is the first time an Olympic Event has been held on site owned by a religious organization.

I also went yesterday and thought it was great for the reasons you have given. There were places on the course(eg between crossing gates 8& 9)where you could be next to the action as the riders came by - but also see a large part of the course thus following the riders progress.
I didn't see a photo from you of 'The Rabbit Hole' another feature of the course.
The PA was good as there were multiple speakers - thus audible throughout the course
Looking forward to seeing the next test events - Beach Volleyball, London /Surrey Cycle classic and the BMX!

Another interesting facet of London 2012 will be the Olympic Houses that different nations will have. Many will be open to the public and will be on a large scale eg Holland taking over Alexandra Palace, the Jamacians taking over Finsbury Park etc. Apparently these pavilions went down well at the Vancouver Olympic Games and so look to be provided on a larger scale in London next year. It'll provide something for free for the public. There does seem to be any mention on the London 2012 site - but this website has details and now a map of the proposed facilities http://eventmagazine.co.uk/channel/olympichouses/

Hadleigh looks like it will be a superb amenity. The designers have done an outstanding job.
In your first para I thought you had adopted the American practice of always spelling practice with a ‘c’ regardless of whether it was a noun or a verb. A rational move IMO.
But then in Reason 4b you dropped back into the English ‘s’ because ‘practicing’ just doesn’t look right, does it?
Licence/se is practice’s tricky little twin.

The London/Surrey bike ride has caused major roadworks - all the traffic islands are being replaced with removable ones in the middle of the road to lessen pile ups.
