Poignant stuff - a salutary reminder not to take any day for granted.
I echo Frank's sentiment. I hope the person in hospital gets better soon. My partners birthday is on Valentines day too so he always has to share it .
Hope the patient in question makes a full and speedy recovery in time for the next celebration.
Sounds like it was a very special birthday party - certainly one people will remember. It's who you are with that matters most, not where you are.

Glad you all managed to have some kind of celebratory day. Best wishes to the patient for a speedy recovery and good outcome.
Echoing timbo’s comment, this birthday party will probably be remembered as one of the special ones. One of my best party memories is of a family gathering in a woodland clearing where we suddenly decided to play cricket. Fallen branches provided bats and stumps, and discarded wrappings were squeezed together into a ball. The game ended when the ball finally disintegrated.
Is this Dad or sister-in-law? Hope all goes well.
Glad it's 'getting better' not 'getting worse'. Lovely stuff DG. x
Hope the 'getting better' continues apace. I have Father-in-law in similarish condition.
