I can't see it ever becoming a luxury hotel, what a ridiculous suggestion! I'll eat my hat if that ever happens...
It's not actually the Post Office Tower any more, it's official name is the British Telecommunications Tower.
I went up the tower once to refit some radiators. It was very draughty but the views from the 23rd floor were excellent.

I never did get to go to the restaurant though. I had a booking but it closed the week before!
Nice try, but your algorithmic shenanigans won't let this one slip past.
I remember visiting this soon after it opened and going up to the observation deck. I still have the guidebook somewhere.
I moved into university halls in Sept 2001 in the shadow of BT Tower and there were quite a few fellow freshers terrified of 9/11 style attack on the BT tower and it falling onto our building. Always thought it was an odd fear.
I'm disappointed that the BBC report mentions that the tower was used in various TV programmes, but does not include the giant kitten from The Goodies. That's its most iconic moment for me!
Like many dictators, it seems like you've reached the point of rewriting history.
Had no idea Billy Butlin ran the restaurant. Somewhere in an old tickets box, I have my ticket for admission to the viewing platform.
This is messing with my head! Did I miss this post or is it newly inserted to make me think I did?
The top three comments really are the icing on the cake
Should be turned into a laboratory for the development of AI. With the excellent communication network there and its proximity to the seat of UK government and ready warehousing for logistics and assembly work, what could possibly go wrong? And it's handy for The Inferno Club. So long as some fidgety old buffer wearing an astrakhan hat turns up at the right moment of course.
Very clever how you created a new backdated post to make it look like the algorithm was showing a post we had missed!
I went up to the observation floor around 1970. I remember almost nothing about the visit, except that afterwards I bought a 99 from an ice cream van in the street outside. It cost the unimaginable sum of 2/6.
