Read this book last year and thought it excellent. I can also recommend the Bryant and May books by Christopher Fowler. The go to books if you want to pick up some weird and wonderful facts about London and some of its stranger inhabitants.
I assume they've already done London by Edward Rutherford? Or the Powers That Be have decided such a weighty tome would be off-putting to casual readers...
I hope that's not a ticket on the Jag...
I have you to thank for introducing me to the Bryant & May books DG. Definitely off-beat, but all the better for it!

Of all the libraries in my borough, I really didn't expect Ben Aaronovitch to be appearing at my little local branch! I have no excuses now!
OI! No spoilers re B&M :-)
All of Christopher Fowlers books are good reads, try Roofworld if you can get it!
This is the fourth year. The previous books are here: http://www.cityread.london/about/previous-years-books/
I had read the first Bryant and May book but you alerted me to the sequels and I have since passed them on to my mother. She is also a fan of Ben Aaronovitch's series.
It probably just me...but, faced with the "offer" of anything "free" tend to think there is a catch, or it a scam or some way of getting you to buy something. That is not to say I never taken advantage of any free deals but do look carefully at the t&c.
Loved the first book, love the premise, found the sequels hit-&-miss but still eager for the next one. THANK YOU for all the links; didn't know there was a Folly site (or a music video). Guess I need to check out the Bryant & May series, huh?
Love Fowler's Bryant and May series, though thought the one with the tiger was just a bit too far fetched. What was that about truth, fiction and strangeness?

Ben Aaronovitch sounds like one worth investigating, thanks!
