Again, thanks should be given to you for an interesting, informative and most importantly an entertaining blog. It certainly livens up a dull commute. Newspapers tell, you entertain as we'll.
Well I'm pleased to see the comment numbers are holding up; I try to make an effort to keep the stats high every now and then!
I wonder if you'll get lots of comments today, as people decide to skew your count upwards?
DG, I imagine the reason for your general visitor increase is the vast number of people logging on each February to see what "Count 10" is this year...
I'm glad you're still getting decent comment levels - they've dropped off massively on my blog (despite readership gently trending upwards) and I do miss them. I had a little strop in September and shamed some folk into commenting again but mostly they seem to just press the 'like' button (sigh) or comment on facebook or twitter instead. That said, if it's a blogspot blog, I often comment on twitter myself as half the time I can't log in to comment and it's the only way to leave a response.

KITTENS!!!!!!!!!! And there is one there that looks just like a baby grumpy cat. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! Dies of da cyute! I can has more kitties pls?

Go on. I can't be bothered looking. The mystery count is still zero, isn't it?
Maybe one of the reasons I still get comments is because I don't have a Facebook page and I don't tweet every post I write, so the conversation can't go elsewhere. Or maybe I'm just limiting my readership.
yes, I was thinking that as I wrote my comment. The problem is, if I don't tweet or facebook it, for some people it doesn't exist
I echo Rick's comments, perfectly put. I found your blog ref the Oympic Park in July most informative and I used it when we revisited for the Paralympics to see attractions that we had not seen the first time around. A great blog that encompasses an eclectic mix of subjects and presents them in a interesting and informative way for the reader . Well Done DG.
Writing a 1,000 words a day is pretty amazing...especially, as you noted, you aren't writing a book. Congrats on increasing readership. And I like the fact that play was the dominant aspect of your life in February.
does three hours in a queue come under 'play'.....? For me that's called a 'waste of time', but each to their own....
As Rick says, many thanks for continuing with your fine blog. I'll continue to comment once in a while - as Blue Witch says, a blog without comments is just a website.

What I love on my blog is when, occasionally, the commenters start chatting and remarking on each other's comments, sometimes going well off-topic. Far better than the blog and great fun.
Shurely shome mishtake in Count 1 - July and August 2013? #pedantcomment

dg writes: Mishtake fixed, thanks.
On the Daytum graph, "comments" should be presented on a different scale. Now it's barely visible at 1 pixel in height.
Although I rarely comment, I read the blog most days, and if I miss a day I always catch up. From my viewpoint, you needn't "learn to ease off a little"; the more you write, the happier I shall be to read it all. Some subjects lend themselves to a good old ramble!
I wish I had all that play time, but then I'm not footloose and off-spring free, despite my best efforts to get the teens to move out! :D
In the meantime I'm happy to live vicariously through your blog, making a mental list of places to visit in the future.
Always pleased to read about your London/Home Counties rambles, since I've moved from London now. I think the length of your blogs is just about right, now. You must be efficient in your work to have enough free time - most people spend a lot of their day struggling to keep up with the machines!
This blog is my favourite treat and the comments are the cherries on top. As befits a great-aunt, I am well behind the times and I sit at a desk reading DG on a monitor.
I'm not sure my comments are intelligent or insightful but I'm happy to try and contribute. One thing that always intrigues when reading comments sections on different blogs is how many regular commenters and bloggers actually know each other in real life or whether these conversations are confined to cyber-space.

And, as others have said, a 1000 words a day with no obvious loss of quality is an incredible achievement. Part of me thinks it is sad that such effort goes unrewarded financially; on the other word I think it's great that in our modern commercial world there is still space for people to do things for reasons other than money.
