The Ocado/Sainsburys/Tesco/Morrisons delivery is an established fact in my road, enhanced in the evenings by the buzz of the moped delivering food and the Uber driver delivering an evening out.

With more food delivery we may see the end of the kitchen as we know it, we'll just need a microwave (and kettle if you don't do tea in the microwave), fridge/freezer and sink.
Yes, well, They've got to stop people being able to retire before they are 67/68/70 as They need the income tax revenue (and VAT) to finance all the wasteful spending that They do.

Providing opportunities for people to waste money - such as only buying pre-made food and drinks - will ensure that the working population haven't got enough money to save/put in a pension so they can retire early.

Convenience is all very well, but, for most people, it means they'll never see a retirement that they can enjoy.

Sadly, the majority of people don't understand this concept, so are destined to forever be part of The Machine of Capitalism.
You'll be able to order whatever you like. Choose a recipe and get somewhere to cook it for you to order.
At the same time is the contradictory rise in the number of nutrition programmes and cooking shows on TV. It seems we're happy to watch others cook and get new ideas but not put it into practice ourselves!
On the other hand, prepared food is a massive help for those who are disabled.

I had a nasty condition which meant that, for some time, my grip was weakened and I was unable to feel exactly where my fingers were. Being able to buy things which were sliced, diced, chopped and so on meant that I could make good meals without having to rely on someone else.

That episode killed the "prepared food is for lazy people" notion.

(And there was no waste - it had been concentrated at the manufacturing end).
Ocado sends me 15% off codes every month or two, plus they often have sales on their regular prices.

When getting (packaged) groceries delivered is cheaper than walking to the supermarket and lugging things home, the choice is obvious. I still prefer to choose my fresh groceries myself.

I don't really see Blue Witch's cynical view play out in reality (anecdotally). The people I know order things because you don't get paid for spending an hour preparing your own food, they use the time to work harder and earn more than they are paying. The poorer people I know, they can't afford it anyway, so they have to do everything themselves.
I'm ambivalent about this one. I brought up my kids on food home cooked from scratch because I couldn't afford anything else. Now in their late 30's they all do a lot of cooking themselves. My granddaughter is a good cook. That doesn't mean they never buy any convenience foods or get a takeaway now and again.

On the other hand now that I'm alone I rely heavily on prepared food. I rarely buy fresh veg as most of it would go to waste. I also get home delivery because my mobility is impaired enough that I find hauling heavy groceries a big problem.

And as for the cookery porn programmes on TV, I don't see them as people seriously looking for inspiration or instruction, they're just entertainment.
love the sandwich comment made me laugh

Hopefully G Kelly (pie and mash) on the roman road will still be there. I had my first Vegan Pie and mash today ( just to give it a whirl). It was fantastic
