This prediction was spot on. As for the extent to which the catastrophe towards which we're sleepwalking has been recognized, I reckon it's not much. Even countries with flourishing green parties don't seem to be moving fast enough. Let alone this benighted realm.
Inequality is a big part of the problem.
Finally we have woken up. Environmentalists have been banging on about this since the 19702/1980s - remember Acid Rain?

Sadly we are still doing too little. We now have 10 years or less left to make a real change.

There needs to be a major shift in the production of plastic for one. If manufacturers aren't willing to stem the flow at the source then recycling facilities/alternative uses for the waste plastic (building materials perhaps?) need to be vamped up.

Electric vehicles need to become affordable for all and petrol stations converted to charging stations etc.
For me, electric vehicles are not a question of affordability, but practicality. Unless you have a guaranteed parking space outside your house you can't be sure you can plug in overnight. (I consider it a result if I can park in the same street!)
And with a petrol car you can fill up with 400 miles worth of fuel in a couple of minutes and be on your way. An electric car takes at least 30 minutes, and often several hours.
Whatever happened to Acid Rain? Also that hole in the ozone layer: does it still exist?
