Oh god, this can't be true..?
1) 50s, 2) 60s, 3) 70s, 4) 80s, 5) 90s, 6) 00s, 7) 10s, 8) 20s...! My earliest memories go back to 1956/57 although I was few years old by then. So what's another decade? Happy New Year.. |
Incredibly we have just had this conversation at the dinner party I am at prior to reading your post and I am amazed that I have lived in eight decades!
20:20 vision, sight, etc. Hopefully this decade will clear up the mess that has existed for much of the recent past. Happy new year to one and all. |
Amazement about eight decades from me too.
Happy new year to one and all |
HNY to fellow fifties baby boomers.
Earliest memory - a 1957 bus ride to Hadley Woods aged 3. Still bus travelling eight decades on. |
Good Grief!
How am I still alive? Thank you DG for all the wonderful posts, and all the memories that they trigger. |
8 decades, 2 centuries & 2 millennia.
Though I relate more to Shakespear's sixth of seven ages "The sixth age shifts Into the lean and slippered pantaloon, With spectacles on nose and pouch on side; His youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide For his shrunk shank; and his big manly voice, Turning again toward childish treble, pipes And whistles in his sound." |
Greetings to fellow 8 decade achievers.
An early memory of mine was a visit with Mum to Auntie Ada's at Mitcham. It involved a trip on the trolleybus from West Croydon. That journey had a disproportionate influence on my subsequent life and interest in transport. |
Good grief! Trust you DG to give me another way to view my advancing years. I looked at actuarial tables to see what the odds were that I'd see out the decade and it seems that 83-and-a-bit years is on the cards for a current 67 year old. Probably need a few resolutions to see that through. Meantime thanks to you for the entertainment and reflection, your efforts are greatly appreciated. Happy New Year to all.

Happy new year from another eight-decader. I'm too young to actually remember the 1950s though.

I came into this world in 1951 at 3am on a cold Friday morning, and have been a nuisance ever since - don't you like consistency in people? So to those who began as I did, railing against things takes us off our backsides and out into the real world to record it, challenge it and try to make it a better place. And keeps us 'young'...
All the very best to DG and every reader / contributor of every number of decades. |
Oh dear, I was about to post in the seven decades section. Sigh.
|
Happy New Year DG :)
Many thanks for keeping me entertained, informed and thinking since I found your blog... Keep up the good works it's very much appreciated ;) |
Happy New Year to DG and all those who have lived in 8 decades.
May your blog continue for another 10 years (at least!). |
