City Airport shouldn't keep you awake in those hotels, because flights are not allowed to take off or land between 10pm and 6:30am (except for emergencies).
I've spent many night in those hotels along the Western Gateway. Up until 2008 I used to attend at least two trade shows a year at the Excel.
Well Crossrail is a massive undertaking and deserves as many blogposts as it gets. I enjoyed London Reconnections's yesterday and I enjoyed yours today.
Now you know what it's like! Those of us attempting to eke out an existence writing London-based blogposts are faced, constantly, with the nightmare of trying to think of things not already covered magnificently by the legendary Diamond Geezer.

Yesterday I spent an hour trying to think of something to say about Tube150 that was both new and interesting.

Like Peter G I read both articles and found them both interesting and informative in different ways; both sites are required reading for this mildly transport-obsessed exiled Londoner.
I echo the comments above. I read LR's post yesterday but still learnt something new today.
But London Reconnections doesn't provide that personal touch and the delightful little insights that you provide. And it is definitely a two way thing because an article of yours can inspire us to cover the same topic in a different way.
[End of mutual backslapping]

@Richard: In its last few years, Custom House was a station on the North London Line in it's Richmond-North Woolwich incarnation.
