Any reason why Sunday papers have been omitted. The Times is £2.90 and the Telegraph £2.20, for example.

Of course cover price doesn't mean price paid.

Plenty of those paid for papers are free every day to Waitrose shoppers spending £10. That number isn't included in the bulks figure as I believe some money does actually change hands.

On top of that there are subscribers paying as little as 50% of cover price.

Many people I know say that the £4 FT Weekend is money well spent as you are paying for proper considered journalism.
The weekend edition of the i costs £1.20.

I'm intrigued that right-of-centre papers cost less than their left-of-centre counterparts.
Presumably advertising revenue is much greater for The Times & Telegraph with 300,000 + readers than The Guardian with 129,000 & simlarly for The Sun versus The Mirror. Not sure about the Star though - does it cost more to advertise 'dubious' chatlines?
