The DLR, with it's very high level of automation, strikes me as an "easy win" for 24hour operation. But tfl have been strangely silent about this.

dg writes: The DLR gets a proper mention in the FAQ. Separate negotiations are underway (because TfL don't directly run it)
So make sure your flight does not arrive at Terminal 4 if you are not familiar with London's Transport system.
Not sure how my local station, Tottenham Hale fits into the plans, as we are the North London stopping point for the Stansted Express.

Which means we get - by design - lots of random people who want to get on the tube system 12 minutes earlier than they would at Liverpool Street.

I guess NR will keep the Stansted Express ticket office open, but I think we might qualify as a "part Gateway" due to having the airport connection.

And... who's playing "Fantasy Tube" today, eh?
2 more paragraphs from the booklet:-

'Everything contained in this information pack, is a proposal only.
It’s through engaging with you and consulting with trades unions that we will arrive at a result [that's what we want].'

Change can be uncomfortable, and new ideas take time to get used to. Take the time that you need to understand our proposals.
Consider them, reflect upon them and think about what is right for us you.'
TfL can't manage to run a consistent faultless service during the day at the moment. I wish they'd concentrate their efforts on this before adding the further stress of a complicated night service.

My favourite question that no one has the answer for : An early shift working gets a 4am train heading to his day job. But at 4.30am it turns from 'yesterday' into 'today' for ticketing purposes. If that passenger is non-Oyster, are they charged across two days of travel? Supposing they want to buy a daily travelcard. Heh...
With Oyster surely it's possible to make the Pay As You Go 'window' end 24 hours after you first touched in, rather than use the 4:30 rule?
One good thing to come out of this; the station category tube map is using a wonderfully stripped-back version of the map with no zone info or nasty orange and teal double lines. Still has the blue blobs sadly.
"It is proposed that ticket offices would close in line with changing customer behaviour"
"Customer research shows that the use of ticket machines is increasing"

I would argue that customer behaviour is changing in favour of ticket machines because the windows are more often than not, closed anyway! It's a Catch 22 situation!
I should clarify that statement by adding " windows in the suburbs..."
I for one believe that the staff at the Gateway stations are going to very busy.
@Geofftech - but what about the most important question; will the Night tube make it possible to complete the tube challenge any quicker.
Interesting to read 1 of the FAQ's;-
How many transactions do customers have to use ticket offices for today?

Today 1.2% of transactions can only be performed through ticket offices.
That's a fair few transactions to try to make automatic, wonder if those people will have to go to a major station. One transaction is adding a 18-25 railcard onto Oyster.
"If that passenger is non-Oyster".

All the while you can still buy paper tickets, someone will want to buy a paper ticket. If I buy a paper one-day travelcard at 4am, and want to use it for the rest of the day, does it become invalid after just 30 miuntes at 4am?

Whiff - not quicker, no! Just.. maybe more more possible to start earlier/or finish later if one of the few night tube lines works out that way for you.
@geofftech I totally agree! I would rather extra cash was used to invest in a better Night bus service and a better day service.

Personally I think these the Night tube is supposed to be a distraction to the closure of LU ticket offices( all but 6 )!

I would assume that the person would buy a paper ticket of the date of travel.
For example, if I was travelling at 4am on a Monday and bought a travelcard - I would be sold a ticket which was dated for Monday (which i could use till 4.30am on Tuesday!) -the thing is Oyster wouldn't allow that!
