At Cassiobury Park you didn't say "or "The Park" as us locals call it", is that not the case this time or was you expecting us to take it as read at this point?
A cracking walk DG and it looks like you had the weather for it too! You walked past the house where I grew up, at Cassio Bridge - I couldn't wait to leave back then but how I wish I lived there now!
I used to cycle up from Ruislip to go fishing in GUC at Croxley in the late 1950's.
Cassiobury Park is known to the locals as "Cassiobury", as "The Park" is actually somewhere else. Note it's not "The Cassiobury" as that's the housing estate, and neither is it "Cassio" as that's somewhere else yet again (part of Nascot).
Well if you want to be that precise it's known to the locals as "Cassabree", the Watford accent being unable or unwilling to enunciate clearly enough. :-)
The 'mysterious field marked as woodland' may well be deliberate - OS insert small and innocuous discrepancies to identify unauthorized copying of their maps.
I was disappointed the NSE sign had gone! Sounds an interesting walk though.
