I'm surprised the prices are the same - I know of a local cafe that's added a few percent to their menu to account for Deliveroo's commission, and then there's the delivery charge on top. I guess multinational burger chains have a bit more profit margin than small businesses.
Fairly sure uber would claim they're not an employee, they're self employed, or some such guff
Is UberEATS trying to be ironic with a name not dissimilar to 'overeat'?
Surely there is a presumption in this piece that this has got something to do with customer service. Unlikely! MacDonald's/Uber have probably effected some kind of global-scale tie-up, and are as we speak carpet-bombing letterboxes across the developed world. Undoubtedly there will be a predictable upturn in demand at a present low-time for these avaricious tax-dodging, worker-exploiting animal-harming monsters, and profits will increase hugely as a result.

By the way, back in the day, when I decided never to use their terrible services (Fast Food Nation, etc) there was evidence of unmentionable added ingredients in the meat. Association with Uber is unlikely to change my stance.A lot of people are dissociated from the consequences of their desires/actions ....
Not long until those delivery people are replaced with drones and robots. Even the crappiest jobs in the world won't be available to us humans!
Oh, and quite likely that the delivery will be on a push bike, which is far better for all concerned than on a moped.
McDonalds in Hong Kong has done home delivery for about 6 or 7 years with its own special drivers (like pizza chains have), but the delivery menu is more expensive.

Hong Kong is also full of Deliveroo/UberEATS drivers now.

My son was onto this like a shot. Had several deliveries so far.
Clever doing a fixed rate delivery charge as I reckon most orders will be 20 quid or less and so the percentage charge is high.
When, Gav, the crappiest jobs are performed by drones and robots, there will be no poor people earning the wages to BUY McDonalds .......
The project may appear to be relatively low risk for a brand as large as McDs. The temptation for a double sausage and egg muffin to be delivered would be real. The service may bring the product to the door of individuals physically unable to go fetch their own and this is always a good thing. Inevitably tho the project is doomed - affordable home delivery junk food will kill off a significant proportion of its target audience, in built churn if you like? Natural selection at work in the 21st century - sounds good to me.
£2.5 is more than 50% of a meal in Hong Kong McDonald's. Only practical if you order 10+ sets.
I got one of those through my letterbox this week too.
I'm surprised its taken McDonalds so long to jump on the bandwagon! The Burger King in Yeading/Hayes has been delivering for about 2 years now.
Sadly (or luckily!) we live 5 miles away from it!
