I want to comment on your self restraint. Is there a box for that?
I have dined at a number of other McDonald's restaurants during the last 15 years, but never the one two minutes from home. Slippery slope...
Don't eat meat but Mcdonalds have decent toilets so I use them if I fancy . Do you also restrain yourself from using their facilities ?
"going for a Maccy P"
So, how was the burger ?

;)
It's worth a visit. One need not speak to anyone whilst there even.
Enter your order on the interactive screen at the entrance. Wait for your allocated number to be displayed and collect your meal and leave.
Because of the way the Bow Roundabout and its approach roads are structured, driving from McDonald's to my house would take longer than walking.
Not sure what self-restraint has to do with it. I don't drink coffee, but I am hardly exercising self-restraint by not entering Starbucks/Costa/local independent cafe... I don't even notice them since I am not looking out for them. I wonder if it is harder to ignore the presence of the yellow M.
It's only self restraint if you're tempted to go there - but don't.

If you have no interest in going there anyway, I wouldn't call it self restraint.
Being another local, I must admit to having been in there a few times. Usually having been dropped off by the nightbus just outside.

I must praise the counter staff on being able to decipher my drunken slurring as "quarter pounder with cheese meal, plain, with a coke zero please" and actually delivering it right first time.
The only time I've ever met DG face to face I was returning from the Bow Roundabout McD's.
I used it once after a long walk taking photos of the Olympic Park. I ordered and paid using the self service till rather than talk to a human. I then opted which "zone" to sit in and the food was brought over to me.
You have superhuman self-discipline.
Patrickov - I'm sure DG has good (if not superhuman) self discipline

but in this case I'm not at all sure it is relevant - I think he just doesn't like McD's
You are a bit sanctimonious. Bet you've been in a Wimpy though
@Hackney Cyclist: I saw those "zones" in a motorway services today and wondered what they were all about.
I thought it was telling patrons to just leave their crap all over the tables because some other poor sod would come and clean it up for them- oh, sorry, they do that anyway!
Hungry Jacks / Burger King is better!
Funnily enough I was scrolling through the early days of your blog just 2 days ago and found your post about the Bow Roundabout McDonalds being built. Circles.

Have you ever eaten in a McDonalds, or just not the Bow Roundabout one?

So, yeah, I regularly visit my mum down in Shadwell and one of my routes to drive home might take me through Assembly Passage and a right turn past the Genesis then it's all the way along Mile End Road and Bow Road and past Gladstone's red hand and swing a left past the Bow Roundabout McDonald's and north up the A12 to South Woodford.

So I know it well. But never been in it.
