This comments box is just for people who've lived in London for at least the last 40 years.
Lived continously in London since October 1979 (nearly 42 years). Additionally, I was born in what is now London, but was then the Boough of West Ham, then lived 1st 18 months of my life in what is now London, but was then Essex.
I walked out on my husband (while he was at work) mid-1969, got the train to London with what I could carry, found a b&b for the night and a bedsit next day...have moved around a bit since but always not much further out than the North Circular. Definitely a successful move and the right decision. (52 years)
Born in Stoke Newington in 1952, lived in London ever since apart from a few years in the 70s living in Denmark, Germany & Israel. Thought I knew London really well until I started reading your blog!
I was going to say "for all of my 65 years" but as I've lived mostly in Enfield, I did not live in London until 1st April 1965, when Middlesex stopped being an administrative county and Greater London was created. Continuous since then, though, so 56 years.
I was born in London August 1949, and have have lived in London all my life - 72 years!
It'll be 44 years as a Londoner for me this coming October.
Born in London in 1944 and lived in Highbury until going Leeds University in 1962. From 1965 to 1972 lived in the West Midlands working in the motor industry, then moved back to London. So longest continuous period is 49 years out of a total of 70.
Returned to London after university (Hull incidentally) in September 1966 and still here. So almost 55 years.
Born in Chiswick London W4 in 1945, still living in West London after 76 years.
Hello fellow Londoners! I was born in North Middlesex hospital in 1975, been living in North London ever since. Pre-me, my family lived on Flower & Dean Street in Whitechapel until sometime in the 1950s, then moved to Stoke Newington.
Born in Bermondsey 73 years ago. Moved a little further out in south east London when married. Never ever wanted to live anywhere else. Other places are just for visiting.
My wife and I have both lived in London for all our lives, both on 63 years.I was born in Lewisham, she comes from Peckham. We moved to our present Upper Norwood home 32 years ago.To add to my Londoner credentials my father managed 58 years before moving up north, his father 82 years and my paternal Great Grandfather 80 years although he was born in Wiltshire.
I was born in London on 20th September 1954. I have lived in Charlton, S.E.London continuously since my birth. I now own and live in the house where I was born almost 67 years ago.
Checking my 1973 diary, I see I moved (from Doncaster, where I grew up) to London on Thursday 30 August that year. My first post-university job was in Woolwich, and I'd found a mouse-ridden bedsit in Lewisham Way, SE14, a reasonable bus rid away.
Since then I've lived in SE3, SE13, SE23, SE24; and have been in this house in SE3 foe 32 years this month.
Born in Greater London in 1975, and have lived in London ever since (except for university), so 46 years and counting. (Those who still haven't accepted the 1965 boundaries would say I've only lived in London 'proper' since 2004, but I don't subscribe to such nonsense!)
I've lived in London since 1972, in the boroughs of Camden, Wandsworth and Lambeth. I've been in Brixton since 1979 and despite the rampant gentrification of SW2 I can't imagine living anywhere else. (49 years)
I came to London in December 1957 and I've lived in London in all of that time , and presently I'm in Greenwich. (63 years)
I moved to London in the summer of 1981 so have only just passed my 40 year anniversary. I've lived in Islington, Hackney and now in Lewisham. While I feel like a Londoner I still feel like a bit of a stranger in England.
Done nearly quarter of a century (23yrs) in London S.W.8.; then nearly half century (49yrs) within Greater London - less than 10 miles south west of Charing Cross. So 72 years.
Born in Hackney, raised in Barking & Dagenham/ Redbridge, spent a few years in Peckham, Bow and the past 35 years in Leyton. 62 years so far.
I moved to London in 1981 to go to Middlesex Poly and have never left since, living in the same house in Walthamstow since 1991. However term time only started in Sept so thinking about it I'm actually a couple of weeks short of qualifying.
Like Tim B, I came to London to study in 1981 and have never left. But, also like Tim B, that leaves me a month or so short of your cut-off.
Born in County of London 63 years ago next month.
Moved back to London for university 45 years ago in October
Lived continuously in London since starting work 40 years and six months ago, so just make the cut
Came down to London in 1962 to go to university and never left. Worked for the BBC until retirement so lived in Ealing/Acton and still do. That's 59 years.
I moved to Bloomsbury in 1966 when I started at uni. I’ve moved further and further north since and settled beyond the North Circular, which seemed beyond the pale when I was 18. Now I’ve lived in London for 55 years but my husband, who was born here, still says I’m not a real Londoner.
September 1959 to now. (62 years)
47 years in this part of South East London. This is the first time I have ever seriously thought about moving away but I have no idea where I'd go. So I will probably stick around getting increasingly grumpy about the state of things.

I do get a little peeved though at people who move down from the Midlands or wherever, live here for five minutes and then start wanging on about what being a Londoner means.
Born in 'Befnal Green' in early 1951, lived in London ever since, in and around what is now the London Borough of Hackney, so I've had 70 years of trolleybuses, Routemasters and lesser vehicles.

London drives me mad sometimes but as a fairly well-travelled Londoner, few if any other cities have the amazing amount of green space as we do. Maybe Toronto and Vancouver, maybe Sydney but they're only maybes.

However, while London has to change to keep up with the rest of the world, or try to be ahead of it, we are in danger of changing too much to make us an identikit metropolis.
I came to London in 1964 from Lincoln to attend university and have never left and I married a Londoner. Therefore I have lived here for 57 years but still consider Lincolnshire my home but I know I would never move back as I am 'tied' to London.
Born in west London and since 1988 a Haringey resident. Barring university and then a very short stint working in the Midlands, I’ve been a Londoner for 65+ years. Can’t imagine living elsewhere.
Born in Burton upon Trent, I came to London for University in 1970. Lived in Kensington, Ladywell, Seven Kings/Goodmayes, Hackney, Battersea and since 1988 on the Isle of Dogs. My accent betrays both my origin and my London life. In my family tree back to 1800 no ancestor was a Londoner, all were born within 50 miles of Burton except for the Suffolk branch who were drawn to Burton for work. Why did I stay in London after Uni? That's where the work was.
Born in Surrey 1951 (became part of London when the GLC was established) Moved back to London from university in 1972 and have lived in West London continuously from 1974 so 49 years in total. (Or 68 if you count the period in Surrey which is now Greater London).
I was born in the county of Middlesex South in 1957, and have lived in Greater London since it was formed in 1965, so 56 years, I now live in W3 less than 200 yards from where my late father was raised in 1935, he was born in Hackney in 1927
Born in Kent (as was Bexleyheath at the time) but my parents came back to Waltham Forest which became London when I was 3. So a Londoner for 56 years!
Three months older than G Lumley and have spent my entire life in two SE London districts, so lived here 64 years.

Obviously I feel a Londoner but my trips into London proper pretty much ended at the introduction of ULEZ V1.0. I'd always regarded my motorbike as a pretty low carbon footprint way of getting around but if TfL wanted to define it as 'non-compliant' it was fine by my to find other places to go rather than pay the charge. With the impending expansion of the zone, next month, there'll be even more places not to go, and the reality is, I don't suppose I'll miss them much, either.

There is one saying, which is that people who move out of London rarely ever move back there again. I'm finding it increasingly easy to believe.
Born in London in 1973, have lived here continuously since (48 years), at four different properties, always with a London postcode and a London telephone number, none more than 1.6 miles from the River Lea.
Born in Harrow just before it stopped being in Middlesex, never moved away from London, now in Richmond.
Born in St Thomas’s Hospital with a view on the Houses of Parliament so can’t get much more central than that. Gradually worked my way towards the outskirts of London through Southwark, Lewisham, Lambeth, and now in LB Bromley 70 years later.
Born in London (hospital in W1) 72 years ago but have only lived here continuously since 1977 - so 44 years.
I came back to London from abroad July 1978
Came on a bus from Glasgow to Harrow 45 years ago.
Born in the London Hospital 1/10/65
1965-c.1969 Whitechapel
c.1969- 1995 Bethnal Green
1995- present South Hackney
I’m afraid you need to be born here as far as I’m concerned- otherwise you’re just someone who lives in London- though you’re more than welcome.
1972. And although I love London, I still think of myself as a 'Scottish Exile'.
Came for my first proper job in 1970, and stayed. I grew up in the countryside and I love London.
