hope everyones been enjoying their festive break!

i have to work every day at christmas thats not a bank holiday or a sunday. so at minimum, xmas day, boxing day and new years' day are the only holiday days.

this year both the eves are on sunday so i'll get those off work too but the other years are not so fortunately placed! Think i'll make my version of this later! thanks dg!

I feel like you're writing about another country, DG. I was back at work on Wednesday morning, so I've done three full days since Christmas already. There's no such thing as a break in the telecommunications industry, because people won't take a break from using their mobile phones(!) Our company has to provide cover all day every day to monitor the network, and even when we're on holiday, our job is being done by another office in another part of the country.

Happy New Year! Happy final singles chart!

Not moaning, but I was at work the 23rd, 25th, 26th, 29th, 30th and 31st this year (plus Jan 2nd). Mind you, 'work' consists largely of watching football. The joys of employment in the media sector!

Do you know, I was wondering about this exact thing, just a couple of days ago, and lo-an-behold, dg comes up with the goods. Cheers

And I did good works for money on the 23rd, 24th and 29th this year. Actually, trying to work out what I and others would be doing work-wise this Christmas, it actually feels like a short one, with all the real action confined to one week and one day.

Oh yeah, and I can identify with Chloe's festive perks... *cough*.

you're a statistical nutter, you know that, don't you?
happy new year!

I suspect that many companies will simply adopt the European (especially German) habit of 'bridging days' to get 11 days off next year, by finishing on the Friday before the FOTCR™ (have to get that in once more this year ). The company Mr BW works for certainly is.

Little DG's favourite character on Sesame Street would surely have been the Count.

I feel sorry for all these people on the 'break'. I've worked every day since 14/12 and missed the whole thing...wonderful.

Who's really going to bother with work on Christmas Eve next year. I know I got precious little (Ok, fuck all) done in the whole week before christmas this year, so that's just a waste of a day.

I'm surprised you haven't mentioned the occasional leap second we get that stretches the holiday just a little extra... I find it's enough to get rid of a hangover.
