Notice you've listed Oxford Street there; I take it you've been taken by consumerism now.

There is much to recommend in London. This is why it is close to the top on Voltan's list of Cities to Take Over.

When Voltan is lord and ruler it shall be known as Voltanium.

Excuse me but where are the links for each item?

Standards are slipping round here, aren't they?

I can't believe it's 5 years either...

PS Voltan is on medication, isn't he?

I appear to have missed Voltan off my list.

Love your 100, to which I would add:
Columbia Road Market on Sunday morning, Moorfields Eye Hospital, Pollocks Toy Museum, W.H. Martyns (the Fortnum & Masons of Muswell Hill), Fortnum & Mason's Clock, the London Library, Highgate Literary & Scientific Institution, the Almeida theatre, the Tricycle theatre, The RHS Library in Vincent Square, Strand-on-the-Green, Kenwood House...

Great list. I would add: Hanger Lane Gyratory and the A40 Westbound.

You got to London exactly a week before I did.

I still can't believe I've been here for almost five years, and I really thought you'd been here a lot longer than I have.

And.....But....there are so so many
This list made me nearly feel some sense of patriotism...but then I remembered David Cameron's ascendency and felt ill.
Can we add (for the women) Oxford St Topshop - simply a magnificent adventure and The National Theatre.
Also I second The Tricycle - Kilburn is not that scary a place people I promise.
Great blog. And an obviously great five years!

You mentioned "the museums that aren't in South kensington" and also "the british museum". Is that duplication? I make that only 99 things you love about London!

I like belonging.

In the immortal words of Alan Partridge "I am he As you are he As you are me And we are all together Uh-huh".

100 is way to many, what you have described can be summed up in one word:
C H O I C E

Waiting now for 100 things you hate about London ...

24 hour bagel shops - YUM! salt beef! Brick Lane! OK be back in twenty minutes.

Ham, re Alan Partridge, weren't those lyrics nicked from 'I am the Walrus'? (The Beatles)
D.G. Feel quite sad not living in London anymore, live in Surrey now, good list anyway. I will add Borough Market, top nosh.

just logged on after a terrible day, terrible week - and your celebration of London just lifted my spirits !
great blog - here's to the next 5 years!

Yepp, all those things I love about London when I visit but hated about it when I lived there. I couldn't go back, I've been away too long.

*adds "Diamond Geezer" to his list of things to love about London*

Knew I forgot something important.

Me too! Me too!

I love stepping onto the street and slipping into the groove of the pedestrian pace.

Yes, yes, and another 97 yeses.

(I'm not really bothered about Arsenal!)

there's repetition in this list Geezie.

surely 'tate modern' and 'wanksy on your wall' is covered by 'a pile of arty stuff'?

so it's only 98 then.

I am an East End Girl myself (Stratford)I must confess, London doesn't hold that fascination for me anymore. But reading the things you love. suddenly made me go. YER!!! I only live here Monday to Fridays' now.
